Description
Laraway Food Service Worker
Location: Laraway School
General Function: To serve the students and staff attractive and nutritious meals in an atmosphere of efficiency, cleanliness and warmth.
Qualifications:
Some kitchen experience and ability to work with students and collaboratively with others.
Demonstrate the ability and willingness to learn all the jobs in the kitchen and serving areas including food preparation, snacks, inventory and cleaning.
Must be willing to take direction from others and have the ability to multitask in order to complete all tasks throughout the day.
High school diploma required, or GED
Passion for working with students – friendly disposition a must
Someone who takes pride in their work, and assumes ownership of doing a quality job -and complies with all safety rules and regulations
Excellent organizational skills
Self-starter – take the initiative to do what needs to be done without needing to be told
Highly flexible – able to willingly take direction from leadership
Good interpersonal skills – able to get along well with students and all members of the school community
Ability to work in collaboration with all faculty, staff and administration
Ability to make responsible adult decisions – sometimes spontaneously
Possess and maintain a valid Illinois driver's license
Ability to exert authority when interacting with students in a supervisory capacity
Essential Functions:
Ability to work well with others and assist students and staff cooperatively.
Ability to lift in excess of 50 pounds.
Ability to stand for long periods of time.
Ability to work special functions.
Ability to be aware of the security of the students, staff and school property.
Ability to successfully complete a food service/food handler license.
Ability to meet daily attendance requirements.
Reports To: District Food Services Coordinator/Superintendent/Principal
Tasks Performed and Responsibilities Assumed:
Perform all duties as outlined on duty assignment sheet.
Maintain clean uniform and personal hygiene on a daily basis.
Maintain the highest standards of sanitation on all assigned jobs.
Help in preparing and/or serving food for all school related special functions such as banquets and dinners.
Perform additional duties as assigned by Cook/Coordinator or Supervisor.
Job Hours, Status and Compensation:
174 Day Contract – Four (4) Hours Daily – (hours may be adjusted as needed, with permission granted by the district and/or building administration) At-Will Employee Salary set by Board of Education, and based upon qualifications, experience and longevity with district
