    Girls Volleyball Coach
    2026 - 2027 School Year

    Position Title: Girls Volleyball Coach
    Department/Section: Mount Elden Middle School
    Supervisor: Athletic Director/ Principal
    Salary: Special Service Contract - $1,000.00

    The girls' volleyball coach is responsible for leading, organizing, and developing a positive and competitive middle school athletic program. This role focuses on teaching fundamental skills, teamwork, sportsmanship, and character while creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for student-athletes. Coaches work closely with the athletic director, the after school activities coordinator, school administration, staff, students, and families to support the overall mission of the school.

    Job Summary:

    • Plan, organize, and lead all practices and team activities
    • Collaborate with other coaches
    • Teach sport-specific fundamentals, rules, and strategies appropriate for middle school athletes
    • Promote good sportsmanship, teamwork, leadership, and respect at all times
    • Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes growth, effort, and learning
    • Supervise student-athletes during practices, matches, travel, and team events
    • Communicate effectively with athletes, parents/guardians, school staff, and administration
    • Ensure compliance with school, league, and district policies and procedures
    • Maintain attendance, equipment inventories, uniforms, and basic records as required
    • Model professionalism and serve as a positive role model for students
    • Prioritize student safety, including proper warm-ups, conditioning, and injury protocols
    Qualifications:
    • Experience coaching or participating in the sport at the youth, middle school, or higher level
    • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
    • Ability to work positively with middle school-aged students
    • Knowledge of age-appropriate training techniques and skill development
    • Ability to manage team dynamics and support student growth both on and off the court
    • Required background checks and district/school clearances
    • Valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card required
    • CPR/First Aid certification preferred but not required
    • Teaching or coaching experience preferred but not required
    Working Conditions:
    • Practices and matches occur after school hours and may include evenings and occasional weekends
      • Practices are Monday through Thursday from 3:30 - 5:00 pm
      • Matches are one day/week
        • Due to our limited court space & time allocated for practices/matches, depending on how many student-athletes join, teams may only practice one time per week, with one match per week, equalling two days per week for the overall commitment.
      • No practices or matches on Fridays
    • Work is performed indoors
    • Physical activity is required, including standing, walking, running, and demonstrating skills
    • Seasonal position aligned with the athletic calendar

    High school diploma or equivalent certification required. All employees are subject to a criminal background check.
