Title: Groundskeeper

Pay Rate Range: $23.00 - $26.00/hr (DOE)
Employment Type: Contract

Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM
Location: Stanford, CA 94305 (Multiple campus sites)

Tekberry is looking for a dependable and motivated Groundskeeper to work onsite with our client, a world-class university campus known for its beautiful landscapes and high operational standards. In this role, you will help maintain the safety, appearance, and usability of outdoor grounds, gardens, lawns, and landscaped areas across Stanford's campus.

Responsibilities
Grounds Maintenance (60%)

• Mow, edge, fertilize, and water lawns and landscaped areas.
• Prune, cultivate, plant, transplant, and maintain shrubbery, ground cover, flowers, and trees.
• Prepare garden beds for planting and seasonal updates.
• Weed, remove debris, and maintain overall cleanliness of assigned grounds.
• Operate walking power mowers and basic landscaping equipment as needed.

Campus Upkeep & Safety (25%)

• Remove leaves, trash, and organic waste from walkways and landscaped zones.
• Perform routine safety checks on grounds and report hazards.
• Follow all campus landscaping, safety, and environmental guidelines.
• Maintain tools and equipment and report mechanical issues promptly.

Driving & Daily Operations (15%)

• Drive to various job sites across campus (2-4 miles/day).
• Utilize smartphones/tablets for basic communication, task updates, and scheduling.
• Follow work orders and instructions provided verbally or in writing in English.

Must-Have Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid California Class C Driver's License (required) and age 21+ for campus driving compliance.
• Ability to understand and follow job instructions in English (written & verbal).
• Basic computer skills (email, calendar, smartphone use).
• Strong work ethic, punctuality, and ability to perform physical, outdoor labor.
• Basic horticultural knowledge (plant care, soil, watering, pruning).

Preferred Qualifications

• Horticulture certification or landscaping coursework.
• Experience with groundskeeping, landscaping, or outdoor maintenance.
• Knowledge of safe operation of mowers and small power equipment.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, lift, and work outdoors for long periods.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
• Comfortable working in varying outdoor weather conditions.
