*Hand Hygiene Volunteer (Evenings And Weekends)

Job Summary :

The Hand Hygiene Observation Assistant is a volunteer role designed to support infection prevention efforts by observing and recording hand hygiene opportunities in a non-clinical, non-punitive manner.

This is an unpaid position. This role is strictly observational and exists to supplement the work of trained, paid hand hygiene auditors. Volunteers do not replace staff in this function and are not responsible for interpretation, or enforcement.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Volunteers in this role may:

• Observe hand hygiene opportunities in assigned areas
• Record observations using a standardized audit tool
• Accurately document whether hand hygiene occurred (yes/no)
• Maintain awareness of surroundings while remaining unobtrusive
• Submit completed observation data as instructed
• Support a positive, respectful environment while on units

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Requires individual with a friendly and approachable personality.
• Requires ability to take initiative and follow directions.
• Requires ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Requires ability to be flexible in order to handle workload from various sources including various departments.
• Requires ability to learn and apply knowledge and understanding of hospital and department policies and procedures.
• Requires excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to exercise tact and discretion.
• Requires the ability to handle discretionary and confidential information.
