Now Hiring: Human Resources Assistant

Are you organized, detail-oriented, and interested in building a career in Human Resources? Do you enjoy supporting people, improving processes, and helping teams succeed? The YMCA of the North Shore is looking for a Human Resources Assistant to join our mission-driven team!

This position supports the work of the YMCA of the North Shore, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The HR Assistant provides administrative and operational support to the Human Resources team, with a strong focus on recruitment coordination and talent development initiatives.

Working closely with the HR Recruiter and Talent Development Director, this role helps ensure efficient hiring processes, organized HR operations, and a positive candidate and employee experience across the association.

Key Responsibilities:
Recruitment Coordination
  • Assist with recruitment workflows, including posting positions and tracking applicants within HR systems
  • Coordinate interview scheduling, phone screens, and candidate communications
  • Communicate with applicants regarding application steps, interviews, and hiring updates
  • Support candidate correspondence including reference checks, denial communications, and hiring documentation
HR Communications & Project Support
  • Assist in creating recruitment materials, flyers, newsletters, and internal announcements
  • Support employee engagement and HR communication initiatives
  • Assist with HR projects such as job description updates, onboarding communications, and training coordination
Administrative Support
  • Provide administrative support including scheduling, document preparation, and file organization
  • Monitor HR recruitment inboxes and route inquiries to appropriate team members
  • Support departmental initiatives and special HR projects as assigned

Qualifications
  • Associate degree preferred; equivalent education and administrative experience will be considered
  • 1+ year of administrative experience, preferably in Human Resources, recruitment, or office operations
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace; experience with HRIS or applicant tracking systems preferred
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally while maintaining confidentiality
