Human Resources Specialist
The Human Resources Specialist performs a variety of high-level technical and administrative duties in support of human resources operations. This position is responsible for coordinating classified personnel processes, including recruitment, hiring, onboarding, employment processing, and retention initiatives, while ensuring compliance with district, state, and federal regulations. The Coordinator oversees employment records, contracts, salary schedules, work calendars, evaluations, and Board documentation, while maintaining complex personnel files and human resources information systems. This role serves as a key resource for classified employment, managing compliance processes, HR data, reporting, and employee support to ensure efficient and effective Human Resources operations.
Classified Recruitment and Hiring
- Coordinate all aspects of classified and summer academy employee hiring, onboarding, and employment processing.
- Manage classified recruitment initiatives, including diversity recruitment, retention strategies, and mentoring.
- Coordinate Part-Time Temporary Employment (PTTE) assignments, coach hiring, and nurse certification tracking.
Employment Records and Compliance
- Administer employment records and compliance, including background checks, Rap Back monitoring, MACHS maintenance, unemployment claims, personnel files, and employment documentation.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and district laws, regulations, policies, and procedures related to human resources.
Compensation and Employment Administration
- Prepare classified employment letters and contracts, part-time temporary employment (PTTE) letters, work calendars, salary schedules, and Board of Education reports.
Performance Management
- Develop, revise, and maintain classified job descriptions, evaluation systems, and employee records.
- Assign and monitor classified employee evaluations.
- Assign and monitor performance surveys.
Human Resources Systems and Data Management
- Maintain and support HR technology systems, including TalentEd applicant management, Frontline, Keystone, certification databases, and other HR information systems.
- Prepare reports, maintain records, and provide administrative support for Human Resources operations.
Employee Engagement and Organizational Support
- Coordinate employee engagement initiatives, wellness programming
- Coordinate office professionals' committee meetings.
Other Duties
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required qualifications to effectively perform job. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.
- Bachelor's Degree is required.
- At least 2 years of experience in an administrative function within a human resources department is required.
- At least 2 years of human resources experience in a k-12 educational setting is preferred.
- Certification in Human Resources or Education is preferred.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities commonly associated with the job.
- Strong technical knowledge, including Google Suite and HRIS software.
- Advanced organizational skills and the ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret correspondence, reports, and legal documents for administrative purposes.
- Strong proficiency in basic mathematical concepts.
- High level of discretion and customer service skills

Twelve-month administrative position. Employment terms are specified by the Board of Education.
Bachelor's Degree required.
A minimum of 2 years experience in an administrative support role within an educational environment preferred; experience using Frontline Education, TalentEd, Google Suite, PowerSchool, BoardDocs, and DESE web applications is highly desirable.
