About the Opportunity
The Clinical Research Coordinator III supports behavioral and supportive care clinical trials at the WVU Cancer Institute by coordinating research activities, ensuring protocol compliance, coordinating participant study activities (including traveling to rural patient locations), and maintaining data integrity. The role requires independent judgment, collaboration, adherence to regulatory standards, and a passion for helping rural WV patients.

What You''ll Do
Protocol Conduct and Compliance
Ensure compliance with current regulations, guidance and policies at the institutional, state, and federal levels.
Collaborate with investigators, research staff, clinical staff, and other ancillary departments to implement and conduct trials.
Facilitate and participate in monitoring or auditing reviews conducted by internal and/or external agencies such as the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, IRB, and quality assurance.
Serve as liaison between the research team, clinical staff, and participants.
Monitor protocol adherence.
Support community outreach and trial advocacy.
Collaborate with research team utilizing internal and external resources to develop and manage a recruitment strategy for each research study and evaluate effectiveness.
Management of Clinical Trial Participants
Ensure the initial and ongoing consent process is performed and documented in compliance with all applicable regulations, guidelines, and policies.
Educate participants on trial participation, providing updates and information throughout the lifecycle of the study.
Assess for barriers to effective informed consent discussion and implement a plan to overcome as barriers are identified.
Assess eligibility and monitor patient adherence.
Assign participants to a study behavioral therapy interventionist based on study guidelines and procedures.
Ensure scheduling and adherence to all protocol tests and procedures.
Assess for barriers to effective protocol implementation, including participant technology access, availability, and literacy and implement a plan to overcome as barriers are identified.
Support and track assessment completion by ensuring participants receive, complete, and return all assessment documents and samples.
Document adverse events in collaboration with the research team.
Advocate for ethical care of participants while adhering to the protocol requirements.
Documentation and Training
Maintain accurate source documentation and data reporting.
Ensure proper documentation practices from clinical and research staff.
Collect and upload all assessment and intervention data, including Patient Reported Outcomes, intervention forms, and actigraphy/light meter data.
Support and track collection, storage, and processing of all biomarker samples (saliva and blood).
Financial Stewardship
Collaborate with research team on trial budgets and coverage analyses for adequacy of funding.
Coordinate participant and interventionist payments in accordance with the trial protocol.
Professional Development
Participates in educational opportunities to increase knowledge about oncology and behavioral and supportive care clinical research.
Strives to improve processes and procedures related to administering behavioral therapy research protocols.
