Job Description

The Import Export Specialist at Hyper Solutions plays a key role in managing and coordinating international import and export operations that support the company's global supply chain. This position is responsible for ensuring raw materials, components, and finished goods move efficiently across international borders while maintaining compliance with U.S. and international trade regulations.Working closely with Purchasing, Manufacturing, Warehouse Operations, Sales, Service, and Finance, the Import Export Specialist serves as Hyper's subject matter expert for global trade compliance, customs regulations, and international logistics. This role helps optimize transportation costs, minimize compliance risks, and support uninterrupted supply chain operations across Hyper's manufacturing network.This position is well-suited for a highly organized logistics professional who enjoys solving complex international shipping challenges while ensuring regulatory compliance and supporting business growth.Core ResponsibilitiesCoordinate domestic and international shipments via air, ocean, truck, rail, and courier servicesManage inbound and outbound international freight to ensure timely delivery and regulatory complianceCoordinate with customs brokers, freight forwarders, carriers, and third-party logistics providersResolve shipping delays, customs holds, damaged shipments, and transportation issuesPrepare, review, and maintain import and export documentationVerify Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classifications, country of origin determinations, duties, tariffs, and customs feesSupport duty savings initiatives and free trade agreement utilization, including USMCA where applicableEnsure compliance with U.S. Customs, Export Administration Regulations (EAR), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), and other international trade regulationsScreen customers, suppliers, and shipments against denied party lists and coordinate export licensing requirements when applicableMaintain complete and accurate shipping, customs, and import and export recordsAdditional ResponsibilitiesConduct internal compliance reviews and support import and export auditsDevelop and maintain import and export procedures, policies, and trade compliance documentationGenerate reports related to transportation costs, customs activity, shipping performance, and trade compliancePartner with Purchasing, Production, Warehouse Operations, Customer Service, and Finance to coordinate international shipmentsIdentify opportunities to reduce freight costs, improve transit times, and optimize shipping processesSupport continuous improvement initiatives and standardization of global logistics processesRequirementsBachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, International Business, Business Administration, or a related field preferredMinimum 5 years of experience in import and export operations within a manufacturing or distribution environmentExperience coordinating international shipments across multiple countriesStrong knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations and international trade compliance requirementsExperience working with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and international carriersStrong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skillsExcellent communication skills and attention to detailProficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly ExcelExperience using ERP systems and transportation or trade compliance softwarePreferred QualificationsExperience within electrical manufacturing, industrial distribution, or engineered productsKnowledge of electrical components and international sourcingExperience working with global suppliers and contract manufacturersLicensed Customs Broker (LCB), Certified Customs Specialist (CCS), Certified Export Specialist (CES), or similar certificationLean Manufacturing or Six Sigma experienceKnowledge of HTS classifications, country of origin determination, Incoterms 2020, customs brokerage processes, duty and tariff calculations, and export compliance regulationsExperience with ERP platforms such as NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or EpicorFamiliarity with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and trade compliance softwareWhat Success Looks LikeInternational shipments are delivered accurately, on time, and in full compliance with trade regulationsImport and export documentation is complete, accurate, and audit-readyTransportation costs are effectively managed while maintaining service levelsCustoms issues and shipping delays are resolved proactively with minimal business disruptionGlobal logistics processes become more standardized, efficient, and scalableCross-functional teams have confidence in international logistics planning and executionWhy Hyper?At Hyper, you'll help build and support the global supply chain behind mission-critical infrastructure solutions. Actual salary varies due to factors that may include but not limited to relevant experience, skills, certifications and location. This hire will be eligible for discretionary bonus or incentive compensation.
