OverviewNorix designs, manufactures and delivers innovative, robust furniture that meets the real-world need for humanizing challenging environments. We have an open position at our LEED Gold facility in West Chicago.Summary: Reporting to the Market Insights & Design Specialist, the Jr. Space Planner is part of the Marketing Department and supports the development of space planning solutions that align with customer needs and business objectives. This entry-level role works directly with architects and designers who are specifying and designing spaces using Norix and Tonik furniture across behavioral health, corrections, multifamily housing, hospitality, and education markets. This position focuses on producing floor plans, maintaining accurate project data, supporting sales and design initiatives through sales enablement and project support, and creating presentations and documents for client presentation and approval.Supervisory Responsibilities: NoEssential Duties/ResponsibilitiesSpace PlanningCreate/modify floor plans and layouts using Configura (or similar tools)Maintain Configura database with files for new product launchesConvert drawings, files and layouts into client‑ready formatsExecute revisions and updates based on feedback from salesMaintain organized libraries of layouts, templates, and standard plansData & TrackingTrack space planning requests, outputs and conversion ratesMaintain organized records of projects and outputsProvide regular reporting on effectivenessSales SupportHelp with layout visuals for proposalsPrepare deliverables for tours, sales presentations and customer proposalsAssist sales team with space planning requests, ensuring timely turnaroundSupport showroom tours and customer visits by preparing layouts and materialsTradeshow SupportAssist with tradeshow booth design, layout and setup conceptsPrepare drawings and visual assetsGeneralDocument space planning processes and procedures.Collaborate cross‑functionally with Sales, Marketing, Product Management, and Engineering as needed.Other duties as assigned.RequirementsRequired Skills/AbilitiesStrong attention to detail and organizational skillsBasic understanding of design principles and space utilizationProficiency of space planning software (ie, Configura CET, AutoCAD, SketchUp)Strong communication and collaboration skillsAbility to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environmentEducation/ExperienceAssociate's or Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Industrial Design, or related field preferred (or equivalent interest/experience)1–2 years of relevant interior design experience, or experience with Architecture & Design firms (including internships, academic projects, or coursework)Physical Requirements: Primarily sedentary role requiring extended periods of sitting, computer use, and visual concentration.
