    Job DescriptionPlanner role will support Capitol Projects in estimating and planning. These Planners would partner with maintenance and operational personnel, area planner and projects personnel, to provide detailed planning to turnaround activities in the respected areas for maintenance and project work.ResponsibilitiesAssist the project manager in developing project scope of work for required Project Controls tasksStudy and understand all relevant project documents pertaining to the preparation of schedulesWork with all relevant project and discipline personnel to prepare schedulesConvert the scope of work document into a logically linked, resourced project schedulePrepare realistic, achievable schedules using logical networks and where necessary integrate engineering, procurement, and construction schedules with an emphasis on the engineering and procurement piecesDevelop progress curves and manpower histogramsMonitor progress against project schedule and prepare progress reportsCollect expended man-hours and prepare Earned Value reports and analysisPrepare, review, and ensure the timely issue of all relevant reports to stakeholdersVerbally and in writing advise project management and discipline personnel on impacts, and contingencies and generally guide the scopes towards the earliest possible finishProvide realistic resource forecast data at a project and corporate levelProvide input into the budget forecasting processManage cost discipline to ensure accurate and timely control and forecasting of man‑hour budgets and ensure that the impact of all change requests is properly assessed and included in the schedulesParticipate in schedule and project risk analysis as requiredAnalyze progress and effects on schedule and advise necessary corrective actionsQualificationsHigh school diploma with previous experience in other functional areasMinimum of 5+ years of experience in engineering project controls within the Refining, Chemicals, Power, Food & Beverage or Renewables industries Experience developing and maintaining engineering schedulesExperience in cost and schedule analysisLeads project meetings and makes presentationsProblem‑solving skills, work to resolve complex situations with appropriate managementRequires a working knowledge of project management software, specifically Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and ExcelMust have a proven record and experience leading the project controls effort on assigned projectsMust have an understanding of the basic principles of project managementRequires a general understanding of Cost Management, Estimating, and Change ControlMust have a high degree of computer literacyStrong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with staff at all levelsDependable by meeting deadlines, working independently, being accountable for work, maintaining focus, being punctual, and having a good attendance recordMaintain a professional attitude and be able to work independently or work as a team member when neededPreferred QualificationsBachelor's DegreePhysical DemandsEmployee will be required to communicate in person, via telephone, email, video chat, and software systems. Position may include visits to construction sites and industrial facilities requiring mobility (on the ground and at heights) and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to hardhat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves, and work boots.Work EnvironmentEmployee will work primarily in an office environment but may require occasional travel to off‑site work locations. On construction sites, noise levels will be moderate to high. Job sites may contain the following: light to heavy equipment vehicles, small to large equipment, materials, communication equipment and tools, people standing, walking, sitting, signaling, and talking.
