POSITION SUMMARY

A part-time kitchen assistant is responsible for excellent customer service and cashiering, assisting in all aspects of kitchen operations, including food preparation, dishwashing, cleaning, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace while adhering to food safety standards, as well as loading, unloading and operating a beverage cart.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be required and assigned.

  1. Prepare ingredients by washing, peeling, chopping, and slicing fruits, vegetables, meats, and other ingredients.
  2. Follow recipes and cooking instructions to prepare dishes.
  3. Prepare simple meals and snacks.
  4. Clean and sanitize kitchen surfaces, equipment and work areas.
  5. Maintain a clean, sanitized and organized kitchen environment.
  6. Ensure proper food storage and handling practices, adhering to all food safety and sanitation regulations and procedures.
  7. Wash dishes, pots, pans and utensils thoroughly.
  8. Monitor, stock and organize inventory. Notify management of low stock.
  9. Unload deliveries and store food items correctly.
  10. Work with a variety of customers and staff in an efficient, calm and patient manner while in a fast-paced environment.
  11. Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff members.
  12. Take orders and answer questions with clarity and understanding.
  13. Properly handle payments, using POS and able to make appropriate change.
  14. Set up, clear and sanitize tables.
  15. Dispose of trash and garbage properly.
  16. Workdays, nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as needed.
  17. Consistent and punctual attendance for all scheduled shifts is required.
  18. Other tasks as assigned by management.


Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS• Must be a minimum of 16 years old or older for concessions/food.• Must be a minimum of 18 years old or older to service alcoholic beverages.PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS• Previous experience in concessions or similar food and/or beverage services.The City of Watertown does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, religion, age or disability in employment or the provision of services.
