Landscape Maintenance Technician
In this role you will be primarily responsible for landscape maintenance on trails and in parks which includes trimming hedges, edging sidewalks, and keeping weeds in landscape beds to a minimum by hand pulling and spraying.
Job Description:
Landscape maintenance which includes trimming hedges, pulling weeds, and edging sidewalks.
Herbicide, pesticide and other chemical spray application on trails and in parks.
Assist other teams in the maintenance and improvement of parks and park amenities and infrastructure.
Management of paperwork-related activities such as P-card receipts, invoices and completion of work orders.
Work Hours: Monday – Friday, 40 Hours Per Week - 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or its equivalent
2 years of experience in landscape work and bed maintenance including some chemical application
Valid Driver's License
Within six (6) months must have working knowledge of the County's Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program and have completed training for and received a Turf and Ornamental Spray License (must maintain license in order to remain in position).
Preferred Qualifications: 2+ years of chemical application.
Job Competencies:
Knowledge of the methods, materials, equipment and tools needed to perform the required tasks of this position.
Ability to represent the County to the public in a courteous manner and to maintain effective working relationships with other employees.
Ability to read chemical labels and read Material Data Sheets (MSDS).
Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods, often under hot and humid conditions.
Physical Demands: Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five (5) years.
Pay: $16.93 (Step 1)
