Typical Hiring Range: $ 18.45 /hr. to $23.07/hr.
Position Summary (Primary Function)
Responsible for performing grounds maintenance and landscaping.
Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
Individual will participate in safety programs and safety training, and have total commitment, and compliance with all company safety and environmental policies.
Responsible for immediately reporting any unsafe conditions to supervisor.
This individual is responsible for becoming progressively more knowledgeable in their assigned tasks, procedures, techniques and required tools in order to maximize efficiency.
Daily cleanup of grounds, and roadway; remove trash, limbs, and debris.
Maintain/install irrigation systems including pipe repair, head replacement, and controls.
Trim, and prune trees, shrubs, and ornamental plants. Remove dead, diseased, or fallen trees.
Remove fallen leaves, and limbs.
Mow grass, edge, and install/place mulch in all areas not maintained by contractor.
Apply herbicides, pesticides, chemicals, and fertilizers.
Plant/install trees, shrubs, and flowers as directed by supervision.
Assist with maintenance of roadways, airfield, brush clearing, erosion control, pavement repair, and fence repair.
Performs prep work, and painting of various facility items, including but not limited to planters, bollards, floors, walls and equipment.
Assist with snow and ice removal activities.
Performs other duties necessary to keep the airport attractive and operating safely.
Responsible for setting an effective work pace, and for minimizing interruptions in the completion of tasks.
Will be required to work without direct supervision in an effective and safe manner.
Other duties as assigned.
Education Requirements
High School Diploma or GED required.
Experience Requirements
This position requires one (1) year experience in landscape maintenance, or related field or equivalent experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Must have the ability to read and understand written instructions.
Must be knowledgeable, and capable of operating hand and power tools necessary to perform landscape maintenance tasks.
Must be physically able to operate various equipment, including but not limited to, backhoe, tractor, forklift, utility vehicles, and riding mowers.
Must be able to operate vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission.
This position requires skills in verbal communications, and interpersonal relations.
May be required to complete an annual medical physical designed for the performance and requirements of the job.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Licenses Required
Valid Driver's License
Certifications Required (Must have or be willing and able to obtain)
Must possess or be willing to possess First Aid and CPR certification within a year of hire date.
Latitude/Independent Judgment/Accuracy
Diligence must be exercised when handling confidential information.
Reasonable care for equipment/process will prevent injury/damage.
Responsible for own work, but must coordinate work with others.
Working Conditions
Physical Demand - Must be physically able to use the personal protective equipment required of the job. Must be able to meet the physical requirements necessary for respirator wear in the application of pesticides and/or herbicides. Will be required to work in dusty environments (e.g. leaf blowing, sweeping) or toxic environments (applying pesticides, herbicides, chemicals, and fertilizers). Must be able to wear appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) to include a respirator without adverse side effects. Must be able to tolerate exposure to heat, cold, rain, and snow in a noisy environment. Will be required to work from ladders and lifts. Must possess the ability to perform strenuous physical activities such as digging, using a backpack blower, jack hammer, chain saw, and other such tools necessary for airfield, and grounds maintenance activities. Engage in sustained physical exertion and perform arduous work under adverse conditions and maintain physical fitness pertinent to the work. Will be required to lift objects up to 50 pounds without assistance. May be exposed to greater than 55db. PPE will be provided.
Mental and/or Visual Demand - Mental and visual demands are high and vary with function performed. Consistent mental attention needed to respond safely and efficiently. Frequent work or travel in or near roadways, parking areas, and aircraft ramp areas require constant vigilance of vehicular, aircraft and equipment traffic.
Attentiveness to work procedure will reduce potential risk of injury in work areas.
Exposed to normal office, shop environment, and normal aviation environment.
This position requires uncommon tours of duty to include but not limited to weekends and holidays, rotating shift assignments, and overtime duty.
Will be subject to recall after normal duty hours.
Other Requirements
Must be able to complete and pass a background investigation, drug screening, and physical examination as per Federal, State, and GSP Airport District requirements.
