Description
Laser Technician
Reports to: Business Unit Leader
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Schedule: Monday through Thursday (4:00a to 2:30p); extended hours may be required to support business needs
Primary duties and responsibilities:
Basic laser programing, setup, and nesting for BLM, Mitsubishi, Bystronic, Amada, and Mazak lasers. Applicable for 2D and 5-Axis lasers
Responsible for supporting laser production
Identify laser downtime concerns and evaluate possible solutions
Maintain laser consumable stock
Recommend and implement efficiency improvements and scrap/rework reduction efforts
Ensure proper preventative maintenance is being conducted on machines
Assist in training operators on machine maintenance and upkeep
Other duties as assigned
Education, prior work experience and specialized skills and knowledge:
Two or more years in a laser cutting/fabrication environment
Ability to setup laser equipment
High school degree or two-year technical degree or equivalent experience
Must be able to pass a visual acuity test with or without corrected lenses
Excellent attitude, attendance, and communication are paramount
Strong attention to detail and follow-through
Must be able to work as part of a team environment
Physical environment/working conditions:
The position is in the factory and could involve sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods of time throughout the day. Heavy lifting of up to 40 pounds may be required.
