Description
Line Cook - Hawaiian Waters, The Colony Position Type: Seasonal | Pay: $15.00/hr up to $16.00/hr | Safety-Sensitive: No
Job Description Hawaiian Waters line cooks are focused on the preparation and production of food and beverage served in our waterpark. You must have the ability to properly and safely operate equipment used and maintain the cleanliness of the food service area. You must be organized and have the ability to multi-task and set example for others. You are required to be at least 18 years of age and have the ability to acquire a Food Handler Permit.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Check inventories and prepare food based on the forecast for the day
Prep kitchen and food for the day
Operate smoker
Stock cups, boats, plates, utensils for the day
Check soda syrup and change out as needed
Check the ice maker, make sure there is plenty of ice and no problems with the machine.
Stock the kitchen fridge and freezer with needed items for the day from the walk-ins using the FIFO method
Pan toppings for the day (cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, pickles, jalapenos) cover with saran wrap then name and date
Prep pepperoni pizzas, pretzels, etc.
Prepare catering meals for the day when events call for catering
Make sure your work area remains clean and safe at all times
Communicate with the other cooks or food runners
Cooks are role models and leaders of the kitchen, set a good example!
Track any food that has to be thrown out
Daily fryer cleaning/maintenance and weekly/as needed
Qualifications
Must be at least 18 years of age or older
Experience in department or equivalent supervisory experience preferred
Ability to accept guidance and supervision
Demonstrate ability to work independently
Ability to communicate effectively with public, customers and staff members
Be aware, attentive, and work well with others
Energy and enthusiasm for long days
Ability to work in extreme conditions and take precautions, including hydration, sun-protection and other precautions as necessary
Must have or be willing to obtain the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission Alcohol Seller/Server Certification*
Must have or be willing to obtain a Food Handler's Permit*
* If you do not have a Hawaiian Waters approved and current Food Handler's Permit and/or TABC Certification, you will be required to obtain one ($7 through a short online class) before being permitted to work*
Physical Demands
Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time
Must be able to lift, carry, move, and/or position items weighing up to or in excess of 50 pounds.
Must be able to lift and lower 25 pounds above shoulder level
