Qualifications

• Minimum of high school education
• Valid City of Jackson electrical master card
• Knowledge of electricity, wiring methods, and electrical maintenance
• Five years electrical work experience
• Maintain operational residence telephone
• Ability to climb and work from ladders and scaffolds
• Valid Mississippi motor vehicle operator's license
• Must be insurable by district insurance carrier
• Pass drug and background test as outlined by district policy

Reports To

Electrical Supervisor
Essential Functions

• Reads blueprints and schematic diagrams
• Troubleshoots and repairs complicated electrical and electronic equipment and wiring systems
• Installs electrical conduit and wiring
• Designs and installs electrical systems and equipment
• Performs preventative maintenance on electrical equipment
• Fabricates and installs various metal components such as fan guards, equipment containers, mounting brackets, panel covers, etc.
• Prepares estimates of time and materials for construction projects
• Keeps record of work and materials used
• Exercises proper safety precautions during performance of daily job assignments
• Secures keys, materials, equipment, tools, and supplies carried on work vehicle
• Works overtime as necessary for emergency work and special job assignments
• Assists members of the department and members of other departments when needed
• Performs other related duties as requested or assigned
