Vehicle Driver IILocation: SAN ANTONIO, TXDepartment: Region 8 AdministrationPay Range: $3,342.96 - $4,594.50 per month, paid monthly.Shift: Day; Travel: Up to 60%; Full Time; Nonexempt.ResponsibilitiesAttend work on a regular and predictable schedule in accordance with agency leave policy and perform other duties as assigned.Drive state agency trucks and cargo vans to deliver and pickup large items such as furniture, filing cabinets, IT and telecommunications equipment, boxed file records, packages, business supplies, surplus state property, and emergency office equipment.Provide mail pickup and small package delivery while on routine delivery route to HHS offices.Load, unload and deliver cargo safely and efficiently, evaluating routes for cost and time.Perform minor vehicle repairs (e.g., flat tire changes) and maintain vehicle logs, refueling and maintenance records.Compile vehicle reports for the fleet management system.Train and coach new hires on safety practices and vehicle usage.Perform shipping and receiving duties in the warehouse and mailroom, physically receive packages, sign for and inspect deliveries, and arrange routing and delivery to HHS customers.Process outgoing mail and shipping, determining appropriate method, weighing, affixing postage, and arranging pickup.Maintain postage and package records and use online systems for vendors such as FedEx and LoneStar.Perform standard warehouse duties: store, inventory, and secure materials and supplies, operate motorized and manual equipment for moving pallets and large items.Monitor stock levels and notify management for reorders.Assemble and install furniture and equipment, adjust modular installations, perform minor building repairs and maintenance such as painting, plumbing fixture adjustments, and ceiling tile replacement.Assist with office moves and oversee contractors for moves and modular furniture installation.Assist in Quick Copy center with printing, copying, and delivery of documents.Function as a member of the Regional Disaster Deployment Team, delivering, setting up, and monitoring emergency equipment.Deliver, assemble, and disassemble inflatable Disaster Air Shelter Systems after disasters.Work extended hours and in various environments.QualificationsHigh School diploma or GED required.Valid Class C Texas Driver's License.Knowledge of motor vehicle operations and basic maintenance, safe cargo loading/unloading, state and federal traffic rules.Knowledge of warehousing procedures and motorized equipment operation.Skill in operating motor vehicles (panel trucks, cargo vans, with or without trailer).Skill in managing multiple priorities.Skill using standard agency computer hardware and software such as Microsoft Word and Outlook.Ability to obey state and federal traffic laws and load/unload safely.Ability to prepare accurate vehicle maintenance records, compile data & perform basic math.Ability to operate specialty equipment such as postage meter, copier, binder, or similar.Ability to understand and use documentation systems such as CAPPS and CAFM.Ability to operate warehouse equipment such as forklift, pallet jack, dolly.Ability to lift, pull, push, or carry 50 pounds.Ability to perform basic building maintenance or repair such as painting, caulking, changing light bulbs.Ability to follow verbal and written directions, communicate effectively orally and in writing.Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with customers, peers, and managers.Ability to travel locally and across the state, including occasional overnight stays.Preferred experience: shipping, receiving, sorting and distributing furniture or supplies; operating warehouse equipment (forklift, pallet jack, dolly); driving panel truck and/or cargo van; pulling trailer.Additional InformationSalary for new employees begins at the posted range of $3,342.96 to $4,594.50.
