Reports to the maintenance facility at 6100 Clifton Road, Clifton, VA. Under supervision, performs a broad range of semi-skilled and skilled tasks related to turf grass and equipment maintenance. Operates, various types of reel and rotary mowers, skid-steer and utility tractors with attachments, turf aerators, spreaders, boom sprayers, gas powered hand tools, utility vehicles and pick-up truck with trailer. Duties will include, but are not limited to: Mowing, applying fertilizers, pesticides, and soil conditioners, pruning, leaf and debris removal, hand watering turf and assisting with preventive maintenance of equipment. Assists with training employees in safe operation of equipment. Operates a pick-up truck and trailer over roads to transport equipment and materials to other park facilities. Assists mechanic with preventive maintenance. Oil changes, belts, tires, sharpening rotary mower blades. Assists with rebuilding, resurfacing and reinstalling reel mowing units. Completes required documentation for equipment repairs in the WOM system. This position requires working one weekend a month and overtime as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to: Completion of the tenth grade; and two years of experience in the operation of medium/light motorized equipment. CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to lift 50 pounds up to 75 pounds with assistance. Ability to operate grounds maintenance equipment and truck trailer Ability to use hand/power tools. Ability to wear respirator and other personal protective equipment and clothing.
