    Position Summary

    The Franklin College of Arts and Sciences seeks a creative, collaborative and highly organized Multimedia and Social Media Manager to help tell the story of one of the University of Georgia's largest and most academically diverse colleges.

    This position leads the development and production of social-first multimedia content that elevates Franklin College's visibility, reputation and engagement with key audiences, including prospective and current students, faculty, staff, alumni, donors and campus partners. The manager creates compelling video, photography, social media and digital content that translates the college's research, teaching, creative activity, student experience and public impact into clear, engaging stories.

    Working as part of the Franklin College marketing and communications team, this role manages day-to-day social media planning and publishing while also producing multimedia content for web, social, email, advancement, events and other college channels. The position collaborates with academic departments, schools, college leadership, Development and Alumni Relations, and UGA Marketing & Communications to identify high-value storytelling opportunities and package them for digital audiences.

    The ideal candidate is a strong visual storyteller with sound editorial judgment, social media fluency, video and photography skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-moving academic environment.

    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

    • Strong visual storytelling instincts and ability to identify what makes a story compelling for digital audiences.
    • Excellent writing and editing skills for social media, web and short-form digital content.
    • Ability to shoot and edit clean, engaging video and photography with appropriate speed and quality.
    • Strong understanding of social media platforms, audience behavior, content trends and platform-specific best practices.
    • Sound editorial judgment, including the ability to prioritize stories based on strategic value, audience relevance and institutional goals.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with writers, designers, communicators, faculty, staff, students and campus partners.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines and stakeholders while maintaining attention to detail.
    • Understanding of brand consistency, accessibility and inclusive communications.
    • Ability to use analytics to evaluate performance and improve future content.
    • Comfort working in a large, decentralized academic environment.
    • Initiative, curiosity and a willingness to seek out stories rather than wait for assignments

    • Stay current on social media trends, platform changes, multimedia tools and higher education digital storytelling practices.
    • Monitor social media performance, audience engagement and digital content metrics; provide regular insights and recommendations to improve content strategy.
