This role leads the Pricing, Rating, Invoicing, and Database functions while partnering closely with Sales, Operations, Finance, Customer Service, and IT to support profitable growth, customer retention, and disciplined execution across the LTL network. It is designed for a high impact pricing leader who can develop customer-centric pricing strategies, support Sales in winning and retaining business, and strengthen long-term customer relationships through competitive, profitable solutions across the customer portfolio.

The position provides commercial oversight for customer pricing, rating accuracy, invoice auditing, rate studies, quoting pathways, pricing technology, and the reporting needed to improve pricing speed, margin visibility, and customer-level profitability decisions. The role also serves as a strategic partner to Sales by leading pricing strategy, deal governance, RFP support, profitability analysis, and market intelligence, while ensuring operational excellence, pricing discipline, revenue integrity, and alignment between commercial commitments and service execution.

    What you'll do:

    Commercial and Strategic Pricing Leadership:

    • Develop pricing strategies that support profitable revenue growth, customer retention, and disciplined market positioning.
    • Partner with Sales to structure customer-specific pricing, RFP responses, strategic deals, and customer retention plans.
    • Evaluate customer profitability and recommend pricing adjustments, deal structures, or commercial actions based on margin, cost-to-serve, lane profile, and service requirements.
    • Lead customer, lane, and network rate studies to identify pricing gaps, margin opportunities, cost-to-serve trends, and commercial risks.
    • Provide proactive pricing insights, competitive intelligence, and market trend analysis to support sales strategy and executive decision-making.
    • Support Sales in customer meetings, presentations, and negotiations as needed.
    • Lead pricing and yield analysis technology initiatives, including evaluation, implementation, and adoption of tools that improve pricing speed, margin visibility, and customer-level profitability decisions.
    • Lead cross-functional initiatives that improve pricing speed, accuracy, governance, and competitiveness.

    Operational Oversight and Department Leadership:

    • Oversee the Pricing, Rating, Invoicing, and Database teams through department managers.
    • Ensure timely and accurate freight bill rating, customer quotes, invoice auditing, and database maintenance.
    • Maintain strong customer service standards across pricing-related functions.
    • Ensure compliance with tariffs, contracts, internal pricing policies, and customer-specific billing requirements.
    • Support collections and customer-facing teams with invoicing requirements, billing issues, and resolution of pricing-related disputes.
    • Develop and maintain effective reporting, tools, and process controls that support departmental needs, pricing governance, and executive visibility.
    • Support continuous improvement in process design, workflow efficiency, data quality, and revenue integrity.
    • Build stronger reporting around rate performance, win/loss trends, customer profitability, lane yield, and service-level margin performance.
    • Lead or support special projects related to pricing systems, commercial strategy, automation, and process improvement.

    People Leadership:

    • Coach, mentor, and develop Pricing Managers and their teams.
    • Participate in recruitment, performance management, training, scheduling, time management, and corrective actions.
    • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and customer-focused team culture.
    • Communicate and reinforce company policies, pricing standards, and process expectations across the department.
    • Communicate department priorities, company updates, service expectations, and performance goals through regular team meetings.
    • Provide leadership that strengthens employee engagement, accountability, process consistency, and professional development.

    Cross-Functional Collaboration:

    • Work closely with Sales, Operations, Finance, Customer Service, and IT to align pricing decisions with business goals and operational realities.
    • Partner with Operations to understand landed costs, capacity constraints, service requirements, and operational cost drivers.
    • Coordinate with Finance on revenue integrity, margin reporting, customer profitability, and pricing-related financial analysis.
    • Assist other departments with pricing, customer, reporting, and commercial analysis needs as requested.

    You have these skills:

    • Strong commercial acumen and ability to partner effectively with Sales.
    • Advanced analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
    • Strong understanding of transportation pricing, customer profitability, cost-to-serve, and freight operations.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
    • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
    • Strong judgment and decision-making ability.
    • Leadership skills with the ability to coach, develop, and hold teams accountable.
    • Proficiency with pricing tools, spreadsheets, reporting tools, and general office software.
    • Ability to develop tools, reporting, and processes that improve pricing accuracy, visibility, and efficiency.

    And these qualifications:

    • High school diploma or equivalent required.
    • Prior management experience required.

    Extra credit if you have:

    • Higher education or vocational training in transportation, logistics, business, finance, or related field preferred.
    • 10 or more years of experience in transportation, freight, logistics, pricing, revenue management, or commercial strategy preferred.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to sit at a desk and work at a computer for extended periods.
