Essential DutiesPart‑time faculty position reporting directly to the Director of the Bicycle Technician Program and the ED of Trails Trade School and Construction Technology. The instructor is responsible for teaching 3–11 load (credit) hours of Bicycle Mechanics courses per semester with availability to teach mornings, afternoons, evenings, or weekends as needed.InstructionThis instructor will teach courses such as:BIKE 1003 Introduction to Bicycle MechanicsBIKE 1013 Basic Bicycle MechanicsBIKE 1023 Bicycle Braking SystemsBIKE 1033 Bicycle Drivetrain SystemsBIKE 1043 Ball Bearing SystemsBIKE 2013 Bicycle Wheel Repair and AssemblyBIKE 2023 Suspension SystemsBIKE 2033 Electric BikesBIKE 2043 Service Department OperationThe instructor will facilitate and evaluate student learning, prepare course syllabi and outlines, submit grades by established deadlines, and maintain student records in accordance with FERPA.The instructor will attend meetings and functions of the college and department and complete other duties as assigned by the division dean or department chairs, including training.Professional development may be encouraged or required in some circumstances.Professional DevelopmentParticipate in the faculty evaluation process.Remain current in academic or program discipline, including attending professional conferences, and maintaining licensure, certification, or continuing education requirements where appropriate.Receive training or stay current in technological or pedagogical advances that promote student learning.Participate in college professional development activities.Rate of pay: $765 per credit hourMinimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience in bicycle mechanics.Preferred QualificationsIndustry certifications in bicycle mechanics or related technical areas.Teaching experience at the college level or in a technical training setting.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesDemonstrated teaching ability is the top priority.Instructional experience and leadership experience at a community college is a plus.Ability to use an online platform.Experience or interest in project‑based, service learning, or inquiry‑based learning will be given special consideration.Familiarity with bicycle mechanics, repair, and maintenance, including braking systems, drivetrains, wheel assembly, suspension, electric bikes, retail, and service department operations.Physical DemandsThe following physical activities described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
