Passenger Service Agent (Part-Time)

This part-time Passenger Service Agent role provides front-line customer service at Dulles Airport, supporting airline operations at the check-in counter and in the terminal. You greet passengers, assist with tickets and baggage requirements, and ensure a smooth and welcoming travel experience for a diverse international customer base.

Responsibilities

  • Greet passengers in the terminal and provide a friendly, professional first point of contact.
  • Assist travelers at the ticket counter with check-in, boarding passes, seat assignments, and flight information.
  • Support passengers with baggage check-in, including verifying baggage requirements and handling luggage that may weigh up to 50 pounds.
  • Guide customers through passport and travel document requirements for international flights and answer related questions clearly and accurately.
  • Deliver courteous and efficient customer service, resolving passenger concerns and directing them to appropriate resources when needed.
  • Use computer systems and typing skills to process tickets, check-in information, and passenger data quickly and accurately.
  • Maintain a professional appearance in accordance with the required uniform and represent the airline brand positively at all times.
  • Work reliably in a part-time schedule averaging 20–25 hours per week, with the option to increase hours up to approximately 30 during peak summer periods.
  • Arrive punctually and be in position before the shift starts, accounting for off-site parking and shuttle time to the terminal.
  • Comply with airport security procedures and requirements associated with obtaining and maintaining an airport SIDA badge.
  • Interact comfortably with a diverse population of passengers, offering respectful and inclusive service to travelers from various cultures and backgrounds.
  • Collaborate with other airport and airline staff to support smooth passenger flow and on-time departures.

Essential Skills

  • Strong customer service experience, ideally in face-to-face roles such as retail or service sales.
  • Previous experience in an airport or airline environment is highly preferred.
  • Comfort working with passengers in a busy, fast-paced airport setting.
  • Strong computer literacy and accurate typing skills for processing tickets and passenger information.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally to assist with luggage handling.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain an airport SIDA badge in accordance with airport security regulations.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and demonstrate consistent punctuality, including early arrival before scheduled shifts.
  • Comfort interacting with a diverse international customer base and adapting communication style to different cultures.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous airport experience is a plus and helps in understanding terminal operations and procedures.
  • International travel experience is a strong plus, including familiarity with baggage requirements and passport needs.
  • Background in retail customer service or other service-oriented roles is beneficial.
  • Experience as a passenger service agent or similar front-line airline customer service position is advantageous.
  • Ability to remain calm, courteous, and solution-focused when assisting passengers under time pressure.
  • Willingness to work part-time hours, typically 20–25 per week, with flexibility to increase hours during peak seasons.

Work Environment

You work at the check-in counter and passenger areas within Dulles Airport, in a busy and fast-paced terminal setting. The environment involves frequent interaction with travelers, use of airline computer systems, and coordination with airport staff. This is a part-time role with typical hours ranging from 20–25 per week, with the potential to reach up to around 30 hours during peak summer periods for those who wish to pick up more shifts. Punctuality is critical: you park off-site and must arrive at the parking lot approximately 45 minutes before your shift to allow for about 30 minutes of shuttle time to the terminal, ensuring you are in position before your scheduled start. The required dress code includes a black suit jacket and slacks, a white button-up shirt, and navy matte leather shoes without embellishments such as buckles or buttons. Candidates initially supply their own uniform until they receive tailored airline uniforms. The role requires standing for extended periods, occasional lifting of luggage up to 50 pounds, and consistent adherence to airport security and badge requirements.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.
