    Planner I – South Bend, INJob SummaryThe Planner I possesses knowledge and expertise in the principles and practices of planning, research, data collection, and analysis. The Planner I is part of a team that develops land use and community plans and studies.ResponsibilitiesWorks on both site development projects and land use/community planning processes.Applies regulations to real-world field conditions.Interprets, organizes, executes, and coordinates project assignments.Assists with developing land use plans and ordinances.Assists and attends public meetings, community engagement or other events (often nights and weekends).Reviews or assists in the review of development site plans and plats.Prepares land use petitions for submission.Collects a variety of statistical data and prepares reports and maps for development and land use planning projects.Understands local, regional, state, and federal zoning regulatory processes.Performs planning activities and works with other staff to move projects toward the final design and construction phases.Assists in the preparation of proposals and grant applications.EducationBachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture, and Architecture preferred.Licensure/Certification/RegistrationNone.Work Experience/Qualifications0-2 years of experience required with a bachelor's degree/ 3+ years of planning experience required without a degree.Possesses effective verbal, written, and presentation skills.Interacts with firm, local planning departments, and clients.Possesses excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.Possesses a strong knowledge of land use planning principles, zoning regulations, and environmental considerations.Possesses familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, graphic design, CAD, and GIS systems.Ability to conduct research and analyze data.Equal Opportunity Employer/Veterans/Disabled#J-18808-Ljbffr
