Job Summary:
This posting is for a pooled position. Application submissions for "[POOL]" positions are accepted on an ongoing basis to ensure a continuous and ready pool of qualified candidates for immediate review when the need arises. If/when a position becomes available, the College will review applications from this pool, and interview candidates whose qualifications best match the specific opening.
Instruct students in Automotive Technology and related safety practices to ASE and industry standards. Grading and assessment of assignments and lab work. Teach and inspire students in automotive technology while helping them build real-world skills and strong safety habits that meet ASE and industry standards. Guide their learning through hands-on lab work and meaningful feedback to help them succeed in class and in their future careers. This is a part-time position at our Lebanon facility.
Essential Duties:
(Hands-On Shop Teaching)
Use a curriculum developed by the department. Depending on the course assignment, you may be asked to prepare and develop materials for classes utilizing approved course outcomes. Complete all administrative tasks associated with teaching a course: assign and grade student work, establish reasonable communication with students, report student attainment of course outcomes, maintain student records, and comply with college policies and processes related to teaching workload.
Stay up-to-date with industry standards.
Be available to answer student questions outside of class, as needed.
Maintain safety and compliance standards during student lab activities. Track consumables during class sessions. Manage students' professional work habits to maintain a safe environment.
Exemplify and promote the mission of LBCC.
Help students find and use college services and resources that support their success and help them stay enrolled.
Work well with students and coworkers from different backgrounds, experiences, and age groups. Create a classroom that is fair and welcoming for everyone.
Interact with supervisors, colleagues, and staff as part of a team.
Participate as assigned in occasional department and advisory meetings.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Learned physical skills required to operate equipment and tools. Changes in the performance environment require occasional upgrading of skills. Sustained walking and standing on the concrete floor during lab sessions is required. Duties require frequent bending, standing, kneeling, reaching below and above shoulders, and lifting objects weighing up to 50 lbs with or without assistance. Must have sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate equipment. Must be able to communicate effectively with staff and students one-on-one, over the phone, and in classroom/lab settings. Requires visual acuity to read words and numbers and operate lab equipment.
Work is predominantly indoors in college automotive/diesel labs and classrooms with potential exposure to safety or health hazards. Work pressures, disturbances of workflow, and/or irregularities in work schedule occur intermittently. Occasional work outside with exposure to inclement weather. Occasional work conditions may require potential exposure to safety hazards, noise extremes, and possible exposure to bloodborne pathogens. Occasional travel may be required.
Education and Experience
An associate's degree and two years of successful work experience in Automotive Tech or similar trade; or four years of successful experience in Automotive Tech or similar trade.
Valid Driver's Licence.

Salary and Compensation Information:
Courses are paid on a per-credit basis. New Part-time Faculty begin at Step 1 of the pay scale, with steps being "rolled" once per term, if eligible.
