The Elections Department has an opening for a Principal Clerk (Provisional) which performs clerical work assisting office staff, the general public and City departments. This position is in the Public Employees Local Union 1144B-Clerical.
Essential Functions:

- Answer, screen and direct all incoming calls within the department.
- Process requests from the general public, city, state and government agencies. Maintain files for all reports.
- Assist and process walk-in requests regarding voter registration.
- Assist in the preparing of the annual street list and voting lists for all elections.
- Assist with all aspects of voter registration and certification of all registrations within the VRIS system.
- Assist with processing all absentee and early voting applications and ballots for all elections.
- Assist with in-person early voting.
- Process Annual City Census forms and confirmation cards.
- Help fulfill and comply with public records requests.
- Assist in certifying all nomination papers for candidates for City and State Elections. Certifies petition papers as required by the Secretary of the Commonwealth's office.
- Proofreads and files all documents stored in the Election Department's office, make copies, scan documents and send memos as necessary.
- General assistance with other office administrative tasks and duties.
- Any and all other duties as assigned by the Director and/or their designee.
Education, Training and Experience:High school diploma required; one year of related experience, including experience working with the public; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
