Psychologist Duties & Responsibilities:
Maintains an accurate and effective working knowledge of the requirements of the Individuals with Disabilities
Education Improvement Act (IDEA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Americans with
Disabilities Act, other applicable federal and state disability laws and their implementing regulations as they
relate to school psychology in general, and to the roles and responsibilities of a School Psychologist as defined by the National Association of School Psychologists:

Conduct psychological and academic assessments
Individualize instruction and interventions
Manage student and classroom behavior
Monitor student progress
Collect and interpret student and classroom data
Reduce inappropriate referrals to special education

Provide individual and group counseling

Assess diverse learning needs
Provide culturally responsive services to students and families from diverse backgrounds
Plan appropriate Individualized Education Programs for students with disabilities
Modify and adapt curricula and instruction
Adjust classroom facilities and routines to improve student engagement and learning
Monitor and effectively communicate with parents about student progress

Prevent bullying and other forms of violence
