Apply now.A Brief Summary Of This PositionThe Scheduler/Planner – Finishing Products is responsible for the development and management of the Finishing schedule, balancing requirements from multiple sources to create and communicate a schedule promoting deliverables the customer and efficiency within the manufacturing operations. Schedule planning horizon is 0 – 6 months, with capacity segmented into daily, weekly, and monthly buckets. This Individual Contributor's responsibilities include planning, scheduling, and coordinating the execution of the finishing schedule by reviewing inter‑site orders and supplier schedules, in alignment with the sales and operations plan. This position is responsible for aligning resources with demand based on capacity planning and shop floor control principles. Areas of responsibility may include more than one production area or factory location. To align production schedules for efficient utilization of resources, it will be crucial to understand the requirements of operational teams at each scheduled area. This position manages work‑in‑process inventory (WIP) and finished goods inventory. Reporting on production and supplier progress to goals is required. Creating and executing any required action plans to close gaps. Demonstration of the core values of the Valmont Way is required.Essential FunctionsThis position reports to the Senior Manager Planning Systems and has no direct reportsCreate schedules and communicate plan effectively to key stakeholdersAlign schedules in support of customer demand, key performance metrics, division guidance for planning horizons and S&OP guidanceEnsure rework is scheduled and completed in a timely mannerReconcile supplier invoice discrepancies. Periodically review for compliance with agreed upon terms and prices.Identify, negotiate, and resolve conflicts with respect to available capacity and proposed delivery date commitmentsMaintain scheduling and inventory parameters, such as lead‑times, delivery times and order file dataCreate a level supply schedule that satisfies customer demand with optimum inventory levels and efficient resource utilizationAssist demand management in setting priorities when demand outstrips the division's supply of products or the resources necessary to build the requested productWork with S&OP to understand competitive lead times. Seek ways to reduce internal and external lead times to achieve a competitive advantage.Produce Finishing schedules that have both validity (they meet or exceed customer demands) and integrity (they can be executed by the finishing sites)Contribute to a positive work environment and coordinate with other planning team members to align processes and goalsRequired Qualifications Of Every CandidatePreferred Bachelor's degree in a relevant field OR associate degree with 3+ years of experience OR 5+ years of relevant experienceProficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and OutlookAPICS CPIM, CFPIM, SCOR‑P or CSCP certification, or successfully complete certification within 18 months of hire dateKnowledge of Lean manufacturing and planning techniquesStrong attention to detail and quality of workAbility to aggregate, organize and process facts, data, and other information to define a problem and develop effective solutionsAbility to work with minimal supervisionHighly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These QualificationsA Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management or related fieldPrior experience setting up and planning in a mixed model environment including make to stock, engineer to order, and configure to order methodologiesDemonstrated abilities in visual scheduling and inventory optimizationPrior experience with master scheduling utilizing methodologies for make to order and configure to order businessLeads by example and earns the respect and trust of co‑workers, customer, and other stakeholdersSets aggressive targets, accepts consequences of actions, and holds others accountableThinks globally about the entire business and committed to supporting the needs and goals of an integrated global organizationAn understanding of priorities and balances short‑term and long‑term requirementsCommunicates openly and honestly in a clear and concise manner on an ongoing basisKnowledge of mathematics and data analysisKnowledge of Lean planning, scheduling, and Kanban toolsWorking Environment And Physical EffortsIncludes visits to both indoor and outdoor locations during all seasons of the year. Normal working conditions will require the need to be outdoor in the storage yards daily as well as be in an office environment. Safety glasses with side shields and safety shoes with metatarsal protection will be required to enter certain areas as well as hearing protection. Rare travel required. Good working conditions with an absence of disagreeable elements for all practical purposes. Light physical work where the major portion of the job is accomplished in a sitting position with occasional standing and walking. While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent may be required to reach with hands and arms. The incumbent will also be required to frequently use hands and fingers at the keyboard. In addition, the incumbent may occasionally be required to bend or twist. The employee must occasionally lift, pull, or move up to 25 pounds.
