This position supports planning, training, and real-time flight operations for the International Space Station (ISS), Commercial Crew, and Artemis programs at NASA's Johnson Space Center (JSC) under the Integrated Mission Operations Contract III (IMOC III). Areas of support include:

• Spacecraft control • Trajectory planning/design/analysis • Onboard systems operations • Mission timeline development • Robotic operations • Extravehicular activity planning and execution • In-flight maintenance • Command and data handling • Environmental control and life support • Electrical power generation and distribution • Crew systems support

Roles and Responsibilities:

• SkillBridge Fellows will support tasks based on assigned areas, including: • Operations and training product development and updates • Flight controller display and tool development • Software testing • Flight procedure development support • Data/process optimization • System administration of spacecraft laptops, tablets, IT networks, clients/servers (Windows/Linux), and network infrastructure equipment • Extended Reality (XR) development • Knowledge repository development and management • Flight control tools prototyping • Wiki/SharePoint automation

Fellows in Flight Control organizations may also participate in training and simulation activities to assess readiness for formal Flight Controller certification if hired as a permanent employee after their fellowship.

Basic Qualifications:

• Active-duty service member within 180 days of separation • Command approval for DoD SkillBridge participation • Ability to commit to the full internship duration • Interest in transitioning to a civilian career in human spaceflight operations

Required Education/Experience/Skills:

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics preferred • At minimum, candidates must have completed or be completing a STEM-related bachelor's degree during the fellowship • Technical background with strong understanding of engineering principles • Excellent oral and written communication skills • Demonstrated initiative, organizational skills, and ability to work under pressure • Proficiency in Windows and Microsoft applications • Strong multitasking and prioritization skills

Specific Technical Skills/Knowledge (depending on assigned area):

• Programming & Automation: Python, Rust, Java, C++, cybersecurity basics • Software Development & QA: Software lifecycle, testing, simulation tools, XR/VR/AR development • Technical Writing & Knowledge Management: Tools & Platforms: GitLab, Maestro, SharePoint, Wiki • Data & Integration: Data analysis, data management, troubleshooting • Systems Integration & Planning: project coordination, training systems • Domain Knowledge & Soft Skills: Rendezvous, Guidance Navigation & Control (GNC), propulsion, orbital mechanics, mission design certification
