Job purpose 

The Production Supervisor manages all activities related to processing and packaging staff and equipment on their line, ensuring a safe, efficient, and organized manufacturing environment. Responsibilities include executing the production schedule, managing planned and unplanned events, coaching and developing team members, providing training, handling manufacturing related administrative tasks, supporting maintenance, coordinating process control, ensuring product quality, and fostering positive employee relations. 

Duties and Responsibilities 

The associate’s primary functions and responsibilities are as follows:  

• Oversee processing equipment and packing hall positions, including start-up checks. 

• Verify code dates and correct packaging is applied. 

• Collect, organize, and accurately enter paperwork at the end of each shift. 

• Enforce food safety and quality programs on the production floor. 

• Train, coach, and support employees to perform their roles effectively. 

• Drive production targets, optimize efficiencies, and minimize scrap. 

• Monitor and review hourly shift efficiencies and implement improvements as needed. 

• Manage shift staffing and assignments. 

• Collaborate with QA to address product standards and prevent substandard production. 

• Review daily production records and outputs. 

• Address “Out of Control” processes and determine potential adjustments in consultation with the Production Manager. 

• Lead the shift by providing guidance, coaching, and encouragement to the team. 

• Serve as a key communication point between production and other departments. 

• Utilize ERP systems for production tracking and reporting. 

• Conduct weekly inventory checks. 

• Coordinate with Maintenance on operational issues such as equipment build-ups, jams, and production interruptions. 

• Complete shift reports, including EOSR, logs, WIP, and rework documentation. 

• Responsible for daily management and support for the team to achieve operational success. 

• Monitor time and attendance and ensure compliance with Company Procedures. 

• Approve the vacation requests.  

• Carry out incident, accident and non-conformity investigations and associated reporting and action closure. 

• Issue disciplinary action when needed.  

• Perform other assigned duties. 

• Follow Health and Safety rules and regulations. 

• Must follow Good Manufacturing Practices, Food Safety, and Food Defense guidelines. 

• Comply with all Company policies and procedures. 

Qualifications 

• Experience working in a bakery, food production, or packaging environment preferred. 

• Team player with good organizational skills, able to work independently, and focused on safe work practices. 

• Flexible and dependable, with the ability to work varied schedules including overtime. 

• Education or experience in manufacturing or food production; food industry experience is a plus. 

• Understanding of company policies related to production, quality, and safety, with basic familiarity with regulatory requirements. 

• Comfortable using data to monitor performance, track trends, and support continuous improvement. 

• Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with production equipment operation. 

• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, with the ability to create and manage documents, spreadsheets, email communications, and presentations effectively. 

• Strong oral and written communication. 

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. 

Working conditions 

• Work indoors. 

• May be exposed to hot temperatures from ovens. 

• May work close to others, usually within a few feet. 

• Compliant with ventilation, cleanliness, space, lighting, and temperature. 

Physical requirements 

• Standing involved. 

• May repeat the same movement. 

• Often wear safety equipment such as gloves, hair nets, steel toed safety shoes/boots and beard nets. 

• Ability to bend or twist their body. 

• Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
