Description
Overview:
The Head of Social Media & Marketing is responsible for leading and executing marketing and communications efforts for the organization. This role ensures brand consistency across all platforms, oversees digital campaigns, manages the content calendar, and drives engagement and growth across social media. This person will be a key voice in shaping how the organization presents itself publicly and engages with its community.
Time Commitment 10 - 12 hours a week
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Oversight
Develop and lead a cohesive digital marketing strategy aligned with the organization's mission and goals.
Ensure all campaigns and content reflect the brand's voice, values, and visual identity.
Work closely with leadership to plan marketing efforts around editorial content, video interviews, events, and organizational milestones.
Content & Platform Management
Maintain and update the content calendar to ensure timely, consistent, and relevant content across platforms.
Oversee social media accounts (Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok, etc.)
Actively gather content from internal teams, collaborators, and contributors—proactively follow up when needed.
Campaign Execution
Lead and manage marketing campaigns from conception through execution, ensuring deadlines and brand standards are met.
Analyze performance metrics for all marketing initiatives and adjust strategies for optimization.
Content creation
Create content if interns cannot meet deadlines
Have drafts of campaign execution if needed
Team Coordination & Brand Integrity
Supervise content creators, designers, or interns involved in marketing work.
Approve all external-facing content to ensure brand and message alignment. Make sure none of the content infringes on copyrighted material
Proofread and adjust posts as needed
Provide marketing guidance or training for staff or volunteers as needed.
Reporting & Analytics
Create monthly and quarterly marketing reports summarizing engagement, growth, and key takeaways.
Present findings and recommendations to the board of directors.
