    Description

    Special Education SecretaryThe Special Education Secretary provides confidential administrative and clerical support to the Special Education Department. This position plays a critical role in ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, maintaining accurate student records, and supporting the delivery of services for students with disabilities.Qualifications:High School Diploma; Associate or Bachelor Degree preferredMinimum of 2-3 years clerical, school based or administrative experience (school setting)Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)Proficiency in Google ApplicationsExperience with Student Information Systems (e.g. DASL, Progress Book, Same Goal)Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and manage detailed recordsMaintain professional appearance and neat office environmentPositive attitude working with students, parents and staff membersAll other duties as assigned by administrationRequired Knowledge:Working knowledge of Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)Familiar with Ohio Operating Standards for the Education of Children with DisabilitiesUnderstanding of IEPs, Evaluation Team Reports (ETRs) and Special Education timelinesKnowledge of FERPA and student confidentiality requirementsEssential Job Functions:Schedule and coordinate IEP meetings, evaluations and re-evaluations in compliance with required timelinesPrepare and distribute required notices, invitations and procedural safeguardsMaintain accurate and confidential special education records (electronic and paper)Track compliance timelines for IEPs, ETRs and related documentationAssist with EMIS reporting and date entry for special educationSupport Medicaid billing documentation as applicableAssist in open enrollment required itemsServe as a point of contact for parents, staff and service providersPrepare correspondence, reports and departmental documentsProvide general clerical support to the Special Education DepartmentSkills & Abilities:Strong organizational skills and attention to detailEffective written and verbal communicationAbility to manage multiple tasks and deadlinesHigh level of professionalism and confidentialityAbility to work collaboratively with staff and familiesApplication Process:Interested candidates should submit the following:Completed Application OR ResumeCover Letter & ReferencesApplications will be accepted until Friday, May 1, 2026 (or until position is filled) Send application materials to:Mr. Eric Lowe, Superintendenteric.lowe@beaverlocal.org46088 Bell School Road East Liverpool, OH 43920The Beaver Local School District is committed to equal opportunities for all applicants, participants, students and employees in all facets of the operation.
