A Special Education Teacher for the Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) develops and implements individualized education plans (IEPs), instructs students using tailored methods, and assesses student progress. This role involves managing student behavior, collaborating with parents and staff, and potentially implementing behavior intervention plans. Key qualifications include a Minnesota Special Education license and a strong understanding of ASD-related needs and teaching practices. Special Education Teacher – Duties & Responsibilities:
Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with ASD.
Instruct and monitor students in a center-based classroom, adapting teaching methods and materials to meet diverse needs.
Assess student progress and competency through various methods and provide performance feedback.
Establish and enforce behavioral expectations while maintaining an orderly classroom environment.
Collaborate with parents, guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators to address academic and behavioral challenges.
Participate in Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team (MET) and Individualized Education Program Team (IEPT) meetings.
Implement behavior intervention plans and health care procedures as needed.
Stay current with best practices in autism education through professional development.
Minimum Qualifications
Must possess or be eligible for a Special Education license in the State of Minnesota.
Preferred licensure areas include ASD or ABS (Autism and Related Disabilities).
Strong understanding of autism spectrum disorders and effective teaching practices.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Bachelor’s degree required.
Successful student teaching experience required; two years of experience preferred.
Copy of all current required certifications and compliance documents
