    Compliance Engineer, Product Safety & EMC

    About the Job

    As a Compliance Engineer focused on Product Safety and Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), you will play a key role in ensuring that our scientific and industrial products meet global regulatory standards. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams across the U.S. and Europe to guide certification efforts, support compliance strategies, and ensure adherence to evolving industry requirements throughout the product lifecycle.

    Responsibilities
    • Drive and support technical compliance activities, including managing certification files and communicating with safety agencies.
    • Monitor and evaluate the development of new national and international standards and regulatory requirements.
    • Collaborate with Systems Business Unit stakeholders in the U.S. and Europe to align compliance efforts.
    • Guide engineering teams through certification processes across a diverse and complex product portfolio.
    • Apply strong knowledge of safety and EMC requirements and test methods for industrial and scientific equipment (UL, CSA, IEC, EN).
    • Participate in design verification and safety agency testing, including hardware, software, and EMC validation.
    • Stay current on industry trends in product safety and EMC and educate engineering teams on new and updated regulations.
    • Support risk assessment activities, including Hazard Analysis and FMEA development for safety and compliance risks.
    • Provide guidance on interpretation and application of national and international safety standards.
    • Engage in early-stage product development and design changes to ensure compliance readiness.
    • Develop and implement strategies to obtain and maintain certifications (UL, cUL, CE under Machinery, Low Voltage, and EMC Directives).
    • Assist in component selection and evaluation of alternative components.
    • Define and support system test apparatus and equipment for pre-compliance evaluations.
    • Assess reliability of components, equipment, and processes related to compliance.
    Minimum Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
    • 5 years of experience in compliance engineering or product safety.
    • Experience obtaining safety certifications such as UL, cUL, and CE (Machinery, Low Voltage, EMC Directives).
    • Knowledge of safety and EMC standards in North America and Europe.
    • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across teams and regions.
    • Experience with schematic capture tools and Microsoft Office.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
    • 8-10 years of experience in compliance engineering.
    • Project management experience supporting cross-functional initiatives.
