The position of Store Manager reports directly to the store owner while profitably overseeing the daily operations of the store including sales, inventory management & merchandising. Maintaining a consistent high‑energy customer experience is paramount. The ideal candidate is an experienced retail leader who thrives in an active, customer‑focused small specialty retail environment and has a genuine enthusiasm for nature and wildlife.Key ResponsibilitiesStore Operations:Oversees daily store operations and performanceDrive sales while managing expenses and profitabilityMeets regularly with the owner to review results and identify growth and efficiency opportunitiesCustomer Experience & Sales:Understands that the high energy customer experience is the #1 PriorityUtilizes strong selling skills to meet customer needs and drive salesCompletes required WBU training modules to become a Certified Bird Feeding SpecialistComfortable wearing WBU logo name badge & logo apparelTeam Leadership & Personnel Management:Communicates policy & procedural changes to staff on timely basisAssists with hiring, training, and coaching new store associatesAssists with scheduling and maintaining an effective work scheduleMerchandising & Inventory Management:Reads & understands the WBU Product Information HandbookMaintains appropriate inventory levels and monitors inventory turnsOversees select vendor ordering, receiving, pricing and POS inventory managementAssists with direct merchandising, signage, and display updatesMarketing & Community Engagement:Executes marketing initiatives and promotional plans developed in conjunction with ownerAssists with preparing displays, signage, and staffing for events and promotionsAdministrative & Financial Control:Ensures accurate cash handling & depositsMaintains organized store and backroom operationsAdheres to all policies and procedures related to transactionsStore Maintenance:Ensures the store is clean, organized, and well‑presented at all timesQualifications5+ years of retail management experience with operational responsibilityDemonstrated experience managing sales performance and inventoryStrong working knowledge of POS reporting and retail metricsAbility to work well in a collaborative, team‑oriented environmentHighly organized, disciplined, and detail‑orientedComfortable working in a small business environment with direct owner collaborationPassion for nature, wildlife, or specialty retail preferredIf interested in joining a great team with a fun work environment, please submit your resume along with a brief note describing your management approach and a brief note explaining your interest in working at Wild Birds Unlimited.Company OverviewWild Birds Unlimited is the first and largest franchise system of retail stores catering to backyard nature enthusiasts throughout North America.
