We hold our business to the highest standards in every aspect from sourcing only the best ingredients to producing top quality products to providing the best customer service and hospitality.We are seeking managerial role candidates for our New York City store to help oversee the shop and ensure an exceptional customer experience, particularly during our busy summer season. This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-moving company at a growth stage, make a real impact, and help shape our future and direction.Develop strategies to increase store traffic and to optimize profitabilityEnsure high levels of customer satisfaction through staff training, monitoring, and coaching, and resolve all store related customer issues promptlyMeet with store staff regularly to ensure that all are up-to-date with brand and flavor knowledge, as well as any new systems or proceduresBe aware of all current marketing programs/promotions and ensure that the store is merchandised correctlyBased on store needs, make recommendations for hiring, assist in the hiring process, and train all new staffSchedule all FOH staff shifts by balancing between forecast needs and labor costsEnsure that the store is never out of stock by conducting regular weekly inventory and by submitting on-time orders for ice cream and paper goods to the director of operations for approval and processingUpdate third-party systems, such as Otter, daily with product availability and any special changes as neededActively assist in daily service, especially during periods of high foot trafficCoordinate events and catering ordersManage cash drawer and make regular weekly bank depositsEnsure that all deliveries are properly received and organizedConduct Weekly Inventory and End of Month InventoryMaintain equipment in the store and coordinate with external vendors when repairs are needed or other facility issues ariseEnforce the highest level of cleanliness and safety standards by ensuring that the facility is consistently up to code with the DC Department of Health standardsWhat We Are Looking For:Must have a NYC food handler's license.1-2 years of prior supervisory experience in a food/beverage or retail environmentPassion for what you do - you love both the people and business sides of the food industry and are great at thinking through both challenges and opportunities in either area.Adaptability and flexibility - you recognize that in the food industry, anything can - and will - happen, and you're able to calmly troubleshoot issues.Eye for detail - you understand how to break down larger goals into day-to-day action and are inherently meticulous and strategic.Exceptional communication skillsDedication to Malai's vision and brand valuesCollaborative spirit and commitment to Malai's core values - you're a team player and willing to lend a hand or elevate those around you, and you're the first to jump in if extra help is needed.
