The company offers a high‑quality product mix at extraordinary savings, creating a fun treasure hunt experience for customers.Role OverviewResponsible for all aspects of the store's operations. Leads the entire operation of the store to ensure company standards and best practices are consistently met. Staffs, trains, and develops the leadership team to deliver desired sales and profit results while maintaining a friendly retail environment. Recruits, trains, and develops associates. Manages the operations of the stockroom, front end, and sales floor to ensure merchandise is delivered to the sales floor in a timely manner, goods are received properly, and expenses are controlled through execution of best practices and productivity.Essential FunctionsLeads all company best practices and maximizes productivity by minimizing steps and touches.Analyzes store reports to evaluate controllable expenses and overall store performance.Addresses any variance to company standards with an appropriate action plan, partnering with the district manager as needed.Ensures proper scheduling of associates to meet business objectives.Accepts special assignments as directed by leadership.Manages payroll administration including daily punch edits, associate scheduling compliance, payroll transmission, and payroll reporting as needed.Organizational DevelopmentRecruits, hires, trains and develops assistant managers, area supervisors and non‑exempt associates.Reduces store turnover through selection, training and motivation, utilizing retention tools such as incentive programs, recognition opportunities, contests, and training.Coaches associates, delivers verbal and written warnings, implements progressive discipline, and terminates when necessary.Ensures compliance with Ross personnel policies and procedures.Consults with the district manager on associate relations issues.Ensures compliance with all state, local and federal regulations.Expense ControlLeads all expenditures to stay within budget.Controls payroll hours to plan, adjusting to current business trends.Maintaining a Safe & Secure EnvironmentMaintains adherence to company safety policies and ensures the safety of associates and customers.Ensures all associates understand and can execute emergency operating procedures.Customer ServiceTreats all customers, associates, and leaders with respect.Demonstrates courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism at all times.Executes customer service and merchandise presentation programs through associate training and supervision.Coaches associates to provide efficient and friendly service at registers, customer service desks, fitting rooms, and sales floor.Personal And Store BrandLeads all store associates in modeling a professional appearance, adhering to the company dress code.Represents and supports the company brand at all times.Ensures the store remains clean, neat, and easy to shop.Maintains a high standard of housekeeping with the help of contracted maintenance personnel and associates.Merchandise Processing and In‑Store MarketingEnsures recovery, sizing and markdowns meet company standards through teaching, assigning tasks, and following up per best practice.Ensures merchandise is presented and organized according to company merchandising guidelines.Urgently manages merchandise processing to the sales floor within the expected company timeframe.Loss PreventionTrains associates on loss prevention programs to achieve store shortage goals.Demonstrates integrity and honesty in all interactions with associates and customers.Maintains a large customer service presence on the sales floor and heightened loss prevention awareness.Leads the annual inventory process, including preparation and execution of inventory guidelines.Monitors mark‑out‑of‑stock policy.CompetenciesManages work processes.Demonstrates business acumen.Plans, aligns & prioritizes.Builds talent.Collaborates.Leads by example.Communicates effectively.Ensures accountability & execution.Qualifications and Special Skills RequiredFive or more years of store management experience in a retail environment.Maintains a high level of customer service.Demonstrates the ability to lead, manage, motivate, and communicate positively to store associates at all levels.Trains, coaches, and develops associates.Organizes and prioritizes tasks necessary to accomplish goals and schedules to achieve results.Fluency in English.Exercises considerable independent judgement and discretion.Works evenings and weekends.Physical Requirements / ADAMust use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PC as required. Must spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the store. Must regularly bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop. May occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 lbs. Must use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
