Position OverviewThis position is part of the University Facilities Management team, reporting to the Campus Stores Supervisor. It is a full‑time, classified contract role with a salary of $21.75 per hour, commensurate with education and experience. Responsibilities include researching, purchasing, receiving, inventorying, and distributing materials, supplies, tools, and equipment to maintenance personnel across Facilities shops (Plumbing, HVAC, Electrical, Carpenter, Locksmith, Painting, Mechanic, Grounds, and Custodial).Duties and ResponsibilitiesUses a computerized inventory management system to purchase, receive, track, and reconcile inventory/material purchases.Researches cost, quality, and availability of goods to ensure competitive pricing and sufficient quality.Places orders via phone, email, internet, or online purchasing software and monitors order status.Maintains and manages inventory in a consistent, orderly, and logical fashion.Ensures orders received are accurate and undamaged.Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & SkillsHigh school graduation or equivalent, plus two years of full‑time or part‑time relevant experience (e.g., parts purchasing or sales) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.General knowledge of supplies and terminology used in Plumbing, HVAC, Electrical, Carpenter, Locksmith, Painting, Mechanic, Grounds, and Custodial trades.Demonstrated competence using personal computers and various software such as word processing, spreadsheets, and databases, and using a computer‑based inventory management system. If a candidate possesses a valid out‑of‑state driver's license, they must obtain a Montana driver's license within 60 days of hire.Campus Stores is open from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm. The shift for this position may vary based on departmental need.Physical DemandsThe role requires moving items weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis and up to 100 pounds infrequently, using mechanical aids or team lifting as needed. Duties include the ability to sit and stand for up to 8 hours, work in temperature extremes, inclement weather, and environments with noise, dust, and dirt.
