Job OverviewThe City of Chandler Public Works & Utilities Department is seeking qualified individuals for the position of Water Quality Technician Lead . The position is scheduled to work Monday through Thursday, 6:00 AM–4:30 PM, with Friday off.Current City of Chandler employees may not hold more than one position or hold additional part-time or secondary positions within the City.ResponsibilitiesLead directions to Water Quality Senior Technicians, ensuring work quality, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency.Perform advanced technical duties related to protection of the water distribution system, including implementation of the city's cross-connection control program.Collect drinking water samples for regulatory compliance and process control.Respond to customer service calls regarding water quality issues.Verify proper disinfection and flushing of new water lines.Minimum qualificationsAssociate's degree or 60 credit hours towards a degree in chemistry, biology, environmental sciences or a related field; and3 years of experience with physical or chemical testing, water treatment, water distribution system, sewer system maintenance or related field; andADEQ Grade 3 Water Treatment or Water Distribution Certification upon hire or promotion; andBackflow Assembly Tester Certification upon hire or promotion; andCross Connection Specialist Certification within 1 year of hire or promotion; andValid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record; orAny equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.Desired qualificationsPrior Lead experienceThis is a regular full-time position, subject to a 6-month probationary period. A register of qualified candidates will be active for 4 months should another position become available.The City of Chandler will conduct a pre-employment driving record check as a condition of employment.
