Job Summary:
This posting is for a Federal Work Study position. To be eligible for WorkStudy positions you must maintain enrollment in at least six (6) credits at LBCC, maintain satisfactory academic progress throughout each term and maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or better (some positions may require a higher GPA), and have financial aid in place.
Provide digital literacy support and academic success mentorship to fellow students by coaching them on how to utilize educational technologies to enhance their learning experience and academic success in individual and group settings.
Essential Duties:
- Assist and mentor students in understanding and utilizing various educational technologies.
- Create a supportive learning environment to help students identify and build on their technology knowledge and digital literacy skills.
- Direct students to online resources and effectively demonstrate how to utilize them for self-help.
- Provide support for Academic Success Coaching as needed.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Work is performed indoors with no exposure to safety and health hazards. Considerable time may be spent working at a computer.
Education and Experience
- Must maintain enrollment in at least 6 credits at LBCC, maintain satisfactory academic progress throughout each term, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or better, and have financial aid in place to be eligible to work in a Work Study student employee capacity at Linn-Benton Community College.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Understanding of LBCC academic technology recommended by course instructors or an advanced understanding of how similar technologies work (e.g., learning management systems and video conferencing platforms).
- Well-developed interpersonal communication skills.
- Advanced computer and word processing skills.
- Ability to independently perform assigned responsibilities.
- Willingness to attend training to enhance skills.
- Clear and effective communication in English, both oral and written.
