Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Embedded Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, integrate, and verify embedded software for aerospace and industrial applications.

The ideal candidate will have strong C programming skills, experience developing software for microcontrollers and embedded hardware, and a background working in regulated environments where software reliability, safety, and certification requirements are critical.

This position requires hands-on experience with embedded software development, including requirements definition, software design, integration testing, verification, and compliance with industry standards such as DO-178, ISO 26262, EN 50128, IEC 61508, or IEC 62304.

The selected candidate will support the development of fuel measurement, fuel management, and inerting systems for commercial and defense aerospace applications. The engineer will work closely with systems engineering and electronic hardware engineering teams to develop, qualify, and certify mission-critical embedded technologies.

This role combines technical development with project leadership responsibilities. Approximately 75% of the position will focus on hands-on software development and engineering activities, while 25% will involve project management, technical leadership, and execution oversight.

Candidates must have demonstrated experience owning and leading engineering projects from initial planning through development, execution, and completion.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain embedded software for aerospace and industrial control systems.
  • Develop embedded software using C programming and model-based development tools such as SCADE.
  • Design and implement software for microcontrollers, embedded processors, and dedicated hardware systems.
  • Develop high-level and low-level software requirements in accordance with applicable industry standards.
  • Create requirements-based test cases, verification procedures, and supporting technical documentation.
  • Perform software integration testing on target hardware using real and simulated inputs and outputs.
  • Analyze software requirements, architecture, design, and source code to ensure compliance with established standards and guidelines.
  • Perform requirements traceability analysis from customer specifications through software design, implementation, and verification.
  • Support software qualification, certification, and regulatory compliance activities.
  • Participate in software certification audits, including Stages of Involvement (SOI) reviews.
  • Collaborate with systems engineering and electronic hardware engineering teams to integrate embedded software with hardware components.
  • Troubleshoot embedded software issues, evaluate system behavior, and implement corrective actions.
  • Support software verification, validation, and integration throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Lead assigned software development projects from initial planning through final execution and delivery.
  • Develop project plans, coordinate engineering activities, monitor progress, and ensure technical milestones are achieved.
  • Manage project priorities, schedules, technical risks, and deliverables.
  • Provide technical guidance and coordinate activities across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Participate in design reviews, technical discussions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate engineering documentation and support compliance with applicable quality and certification requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in embedded software development, verification, or integration.
  • Strong hands-on C programming experience for embedded systems, microcontrollers, or dedicated hardware platforms.
  • Experience developing embedded software in a regulated industry such as aerospace, defense, automotive, industrial controls, medical devices, or another safety-critical environment.
  • Familiarity with software development and design assurance standards such as DO-178, ISO 26262, EN 50128, IEC 61508, or IEC 62304.
  • Experience designing, developing, testing, and verifying software that operates directly on embedded hardware.
  • Understanding of embedded software architecture, microcontroller-based systems, and hardware/software integration.
  • Experience developing and analyzing software requirements, design documentation, and verification procedures.
  • Experience performing software integration testing and troubleshooting embedded applications.
