Accounting Manager – Payroll & BenefitsThe Accounting Manager – Payroll & Benefits is responsible for overseeing the organization's end-to-end payroll processing and benefits administration. This position ensures payroll is processed accurately and on time, benefits accounts are properly reconciled, tax filings and compliance requirements are maintained, and payroll and benefits systems work seamlessly across Accounting and Human Resources.As a local, family-owned company founded in 1934, Mohenis/Va Linen Service provides top quality linen, mat and uniform rental services to customers 24 hours a day, 7 days per week, 365 days a year. Come join our team!ResponsibilitiesPayroll Processing: Supervise and verify the accurate processing of bi-weekly or semi-monthly payrolls, ensuring taxes, garnishments, deductions, and other payroll-related items are calculated correctly.Benefits Administration: Manage the financial reconciliation of employee benefits, including medical, dental, 401(k), and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs).Compliance & Auditing: Maintain compliance with federal and state tax laws, FLSA guidelines, ERISA regulations, and other applicable payroll and benefits requirements.General Ledger Reconciliation: Prepare and post payroll and benefits-related journal entries and accruals while maintaining accurate balance sheet account reconciliations.Vendor Management: Serve as the primary financial liaison with payroll providers, benefits brokers, and third-party administrators to resolve discrepancies, address issues, and support contract renewals.Reporting & Analysis: Prepare statistical reports and financial analysis related to payroll expenses, employee benefits, and labor costs to support budgeting and forecasting.Systems & Process Improvement: Assist the Controller with software implementations, system integrations, and process improvements to increase accuracy and efficiency.Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Human Resources and other departments to ensure accurate payroll, benefits administration, reporting, and regulatory compliance.Confidentiality: Maintain strict confidentiality of employee payroll, compensation, benefits, and other sensitive financial information.Essential QualificationsEducation: Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.Experience: 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2–3 years of experience specifically focused on payroll and benefits.Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency with ERP and accounting software, along with strong knowledge of payroll and HRIS platforms such as ADP, Workday, Paycom, Dayforce, or similar systems.Accounting Knowledge: Strong understanding of payroll accounting, general ledger reconciliations, payroll taxes, benefits accounting, and financial reporting.Compliance Knowledge: Working knowledge of federal and state payroll tax requirements, FLSA, ERISA, and other applicable regulations.Attention to Detail: Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail when handling payroll, financial records, and employee information.Communication & Collaboration: Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with Accounting, Human Resources, employees, vendors, and leadership.Confidentiality: Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive payroll, compensation, and employee information with discretion.BENEFITSCompetitive Pay: $70,000–$80,000 annuallyGroup Benefits Package: Medical, Dental, Short-Term Disability, Vision, Life Insurance, and 401(k) with a generous company matchCOMPANY DESCRIPTION Mohenis Services, Inc. is a linen rental supply and commercial laundry company.
