IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Elementary School Administrative Assistant
SELECTION: The position is filled by the Board of Education upon recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools. The applicant must demonstrate a knowledge of and an ability to implement developmental educational programs and to deliver developmentally appropriate services to students. Preference will be given to applicants with successful elementary administrative experience.
SALARY: Salary based on experience and education level per CBOE salary schedule, plus competitive benefits package equal to approximately 35% of direct compensation. Harrison County Professional Salary Schedule

FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES: The successful applicant for this position shall:
- Possess Masters Degree and earned West Virginia
Elementary Principal Certification for applicable
grades.
- Provide information regarding amount of experience

FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:
- To develop and implement effective developmental educational programs and to delivery developmentally appropriate services to students.
- To maintain the best possible educational program and environment within the school.
- To assume administrative and instructional supervisory responsibility under the supervision of the superintendent for the planning management, operation and evaluation of the educational program of the school.
- To submit recommendations to the superintendent regarding personnel as prescribed by the superintendent.
- To attend meetings as scheduled by the superintendent or designee.
- To serve on district committees to study policy questions, recommend policy revision and to formulate and recommend new policies.
- To advise central office administrators of the strengths and weaknesses of present policies and the need for additional ones.
- To involve teachers and/or students in the development of building level policies.
- To communicate district and building policies to teachers, parents, and students.
- To orient new t teachers.
- To schedule and conduct staff meetings.
- To arbitrate disputes between staff members.

- To prepare an annual evaluation report for each employee who is supervised by the principal, as directed by the superintendent or designee and board of education policies.
- To help plan, provide and direct the staff development for school personnel.
- To supervise the development of school bulletins and handbooks.
- To participate in parent conferences as needed.
- To encourage publicity of school activities according to district policy.
- To assist in district efforts to explain the strengths and needs of the schools.
- To facilitate community use of the school as established by district policy.
- To maintain liaison with community law and other enforcement and welfare agencies.
- To operate within budget limits.
- To maintain a school consistent with state law and school district policy.
- To establish and implement an ongoing school improvement system.
- To create a climate conducive to teaching and learning.

- To facilitate a program to encourage student involvement in co-curricular activities such as fairs, field days, contests, Spelling Bees and other available academic competitions.
- To utilize parent volunteers, tutors, business partnerships and other community resources to assist with the curricular program of the school.
- To promulgate and enforce reasonable rules pertaining to the conduct of students and teachers, providing such rules are not in conflict with written district policies.
- To conduct one's self in a positive professional manner at all times in order to enhance good public relations, foster loyalty, good ethics and cooperation with all personnel.
