Position Overview
Northrop Grumman is seeking a Manufacturing Technician 2 to support manufacturing operations in Mesa, Arizona. This role involves performing mechanical assembly of gun system components, supporting engineers with setup and calibration activities, and ensuring manufacturing processes meet quality and safety standards. The technician will work in a team-based production environment while following detailed procedures and technical documentation.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform mechanical assembly of gun system subassemblies and top-level assemblies. • Follow detailed work instructions, operating procedures, and manufacturing documentation. • Assist engineers with equipment setup, calibration, and production support activities. • Use precision measuring tools to verify proper positioning and alignment during assembly and bonding operations. • Interpret engineering drawings and blueprints to complete manufacturing tasks accurately. • Conduct rework and quality checks to ensure products meet specifications and standards. • Operate industrial equipment such as cranes and forklifts when required. • Maintain clean and organized work areas and comply with safety, quality, and production guidelines. • Record production data and support team initiatives to improve safety, quality, cost, and scheduling performance.
Basic Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED Minimum 2 years of experience in manufacturing or mechanical assembly Basic mechanical aptitude and attention to detail Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 40 lbs. U.S. Citizenship required Ability to obtain authorization under the Safe Explosives Act (ATF) as an employee possessor/responsible person Willingness to work 4-10 schedule, overtime, and occasional weekends if required
Preferred Qualifications
Strong mechanical or manufacturing background Experience reading engineering prints or blueprints Familiarity with manufacturing systems such as Costpoint MES or similar tools
