Job Overview

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Manufacturing Technician 2 to support the Mission Enabling Products MEP Business Unit within the Payload and Ground Systems division. This team designs and manufactures spacecraft components used in satellites including spacecraft panels structural systems solar arrays and antenna reflectors.

The selected candidate will support manufacturing operations by assembling mechanical components performing testing and calibration tasks and working closely with engineering teams to ensure products meet technical and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform fabrication and assembly of mechanical components and subassemblies.
  • Set up and test prototype units and assemblies under operational conditions.
  • Assist engineers with design testing fabrication and mechanical assembly tasks.
  • Support manufacturing operations including setup calibration rework and quality testing.
  • Collect and analyze operational data to make adjustments to equipment or products.
  • Handle and manage fragile composite materials used in spacecraft components.
  • Perform bonding and preparation of composite structures to metallic fittings.
  • Utilize precision measuring tools such as calipers rulers and tape measures.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings schematics and shop planning documents.
  • Maintain traceability and documentation for materials such as adhesives.
  • Support shop cleanliness organization and safety procedures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and report manufacturing data.

Basic Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • High school diploma or GED with 2 years of related manufacturing or technical experience
  • Ability to read and follow engineering drawings and technical instructions
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and experience using hand tools
  • Familiarity with torque concepts and tool safety
  • Ability to work within Microsoft Office Word Excel PowerPoint
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for extended periods
  • Ability to work overtime or flexible shifts based on manufacturing schedules

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in composites manufacturing or aerospace manufacturing environments
  • Experience working with space or satellite structures
  • Familiarity with ISO standards and manufacturing compliance requirements
  • Experience operating forklifts cranes or rigging equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and shop drawings
  • Experience with electronic test equipment such as digital multimeters and DC power supplies
  • Strong multitasking and prioritization skills
