1Class Marine Electrician

A 1st Class Marine Electrician is a senior-level skilled tradesperson responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems aboard ships and other marine vessels.

Typical duties include interpreting electrical schematics, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals; installing and terminating cables, panels, lighting, motors, controllers, alarms, communication equipment, and power-distribution systems; troubleshooting AC/DC circuits and electrical equipment using meters and diagnostic tools; performing cable pulling, routing, tagging, connector installation, and terminations; testing completed installations for continuity, insulation resistance, proper voltage, and safe operation; repairing or replacing defective wiring and electrical components; and ensuring all work meets shipyard procedures, applicable marine standards, and safety requirements.

A 1st Class Marine Electrician is generally expected to work independently with minimal supervision, identify and resolve complex electrical problems, maintain high workmanship standards, and may assist or guide less-experienced electricians. The position commonly requires several years of marine/shipyard electrical experience, strong knowledge of electrical theory and AC/DC systems, proficiency with electrical test equipment and hand/power tools, and the ability to work in confined spaces, climb ladders, and perform physically demanding work aboard vessels.

3+ Years minimum Marine Electrician experience.
