The Companys commitment to the IIF culture promotes a work environment where employee safety is paramount.The opportunityThe First Assistant Engineer assigned to work on a Hydraulic Suction Dredge is responsible for all of the mechanical and electrical equipment motors and engines onboard the vessel. Heshe often works alongside the Chief Engineer on a project when repairs are needed. Heshe performs many routine tasks such as hooking up hoses cleaning up and assisting with fuel transfer operations. Heshe will troubleshoot with the Chief Engineer and other crew members when conducting a repair or to determine a malfunction. Heshe makes periodic checks and visually inspects equipment such as but not limited to engines motors pumps batteries gauges and valves. Heshe will maintain logs ledgers and work orders regarding the overall performance of the dredges equipment by monitoring various computer devices meters and gauges. May lift carry pull or push items weighing up to 75 lbs. when assisting with repairs the length of the vessel and below deck.Responsibilities and functions includePerforms routine tasks such as hooking up hoses cleaning up and assisting with fuel transfer operationsAssist the Chief Engineer and other crew members when conducting repairs or performing routine maintenanceMakes periodic checks and visually inspects equipment such as but not limited to engines motors pumps batteries gauges and valvesMaintain logs regarding the overall performance of the dredges equipment by monitoring various computer devices meters gauges and valvesMay lift carry pull or push miscellaneous equipment supplies and parts weighing up to 75 lbsExperience requiredMust have at least 1 year of experience as Watch Engineer or &8220Engineer-of-the-Watch&8221 or prior watch standing experience in engine rooms or heavy machineryMust be able to learn engineering systems associated with dredge equipmentMust be able perform specialized work aboard the Dredge and attendant plantMust be able to travel nationwideExcellent written and oral communication and organizing skills - in a fast-paced multi-task work environmentOther requirementsMust have a valid TWICMust have a valid Drivers License and reliable transportationMust have a high school diploma or equivalentMust be able to lift carry pull or push parts or supplies weighing up to 75lbsProficient computer skills and maintaining information data basesNS Enterprise experience preferredGreat Lakes Dredge & Dock Company is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
