1st Class Pipe Fitter

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, piping schematics, and specifications.
• Measure, cut, bevel, fit, assemble, and install piping systems according to project requirements.
• Fabricate pipe assemblies using hand tools, power tools, and specialized pipe fitting equipment.
• Perform layout work and verify dimensions to ensure proper system alignment.
• Install supports, hangers, valves, fittings, and related piping components.
• Conduct hydrostatic and pressure testing of piping systems.
• Work with carbon steel, stainless steel, copper, PVC, and other piping materials.
• Collaborate with welders, supervisors, and other trades to ensure efficient project completion.
• Inspect completed work to verify compliance with drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
• Follow all company, customer, OSHA, and site-specific safety regulations.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
• Assist in troubleshooting and repairing existing piping systems when required.

Qualifications

Required

• Minimum of 5 years of pipe fitting experience in industrial, commercial, shipbuilding, or manufacturing environments.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, piping drawings, and technical specifications.
• Strong knowledge of piping systems, materials, installation methods, and fitting techniques.
• Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments.
• Ability to perform field fabrication and installation with minimal supervision.
• Strong understanding of workplace safety standards and procedures.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding work.
• Reliable transportation and ability to travel to job sites as needed.

Preferred

• NCCER Pipefitter Certification or equivalent.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification.
• TWIC Card (if required by project).
• Shipyard, marine, refinery, power plant, or petrochemical experience.
• Experience working with high-pressure piping systems.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work in confined spaces for extended periods.
• Ability to work at heights and in varying weather conditions.
• Capable of lifting, carrying, and positioning heavy materials and equipment.
• Must possess good vision, depth perception, and hand-eye coordination.

Work Environment

• Industrial, commercial construction, manufacturing, and shipyard settings.
• Exposure to noise, dust, heat, cold, and other environmental conditions.
• May require overtime, weekends, and shift work depending on project demands.
