Qualifications and Requirements
- Works with students to help them achieve the reading skill level of the class as a whole.
- Administers, scores, and records such achievement and diagnostic tests as the teacher recommends for individual students.
- Assists in producing and organizing the learning environment, equipment and materials.
- Guides independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up and assigned by teacher.
- Assists with supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, and field trips.
- Reads to students, listens to students read and participates in other forms of oral communication with students.
- Assist in producing and organizing the learning environment, equipment and materials
- Provide individual or small group student support
- Supervises students during recess.
- Supervises students at lunch time and maintains a harmonious atmosphere by encouraging peaceful resolution of conflicts.
- Directs movement of groups to and from the cafeteria in a safe and organized manner.
- Assists students in lunch room clean-up.
- Supervise rest rooms and hallways.
- Other duties as assigned
- Some reading/writing and language college classes preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to relate well to staff and students
- Willingness to learn developmentally appropriate educational practices
- Ability to walk long distances
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time
- Ability to take written and oral instructions
