Position Details
SUMMARY
Essexville-Hampton Public Schools is seeking a highly qualified and student-centered educator for a one-year teaching assignment. The successful candidate will serve as the long-term substitute teacher for a first-grade classroom at the beginning of the school year during a leave of absence. Upon the return of the classroom teacher, the employee will transition to a district-wide substitute teaching role for the remainder of the school year, providing instructional continuity across the district as needed.
This is a full-time, one-year contracted position, with the possibility of extension based on performance and district needs.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in Education from an accredited college or university
- Michigan Elementary Teaching Certificate (PK-3, K-5 all subjects, or K-8 all subjects)
- Strong understanding of effective instructional practices and strategies to support student learning.
- Experience with Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) and Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports (PBIS) preferred, or willingness to learn and implement.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable classroom environment.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
During the First Grade Long-Term Substitute Assignment
- Assume full responsibility for planning, instruction, classroom management, assessment, and communication for an assigned first-grade classroom.
- Deliver standards-based instruction aligned with the Michigan Academic Standards and district curriculum.
- Create a positive, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment that supports student learning and development.
- Assess student progress and maintain accurate records of grades, attendance, and other required documentation.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and classroom activities.
- Collaborate with grade-level teammates, intervention staff, special education staff, and administrators.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional learning, and other school activities as assigned.
- Perform all other duties normally expected of a classroom teacher.
During the District-Wide Substitute Assignment
- Provide instructional coverage for classroom teachers throughout the district in grades and subject areas as assigned.
- Implement lesson plans provided by the regular classroom teacher whenever available.
- Maintain a safe, orderly, and productive learning environment.
- Adapt instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Follow district and building procedures, policies, and expectations.
- Build positive relationships with students and staff across multiple schools.
- Be flexible and available to work in any district building based on operational needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee.
SALARY:$43,501-$70,516 per collective bargaining agreement
