Job Summary:
This job is in the Plant family (Department), which includes positions responsible for supervising or performing metals processing and distribution work. Work includes specialized equipment operation and/or supporting functions and requires a practical knowledge of the nature and operations and the materials, facilities and methods employed by Phoenix Metals in metals processing and distribution.

Function in the Job:
Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Job Function:
- Operates overhead crane to safely move coils throughout the facility.
- Loads and unloads coils from trucks in a timely and efficient matter.
- Supplies and removes coils from the Cut-to-Length machine to support production needs.
- Accurately documents coils into inventory using the company’s inventory system.
- Verifies coil identification, weights, and specifications before movement or processing.
- Performs routine equipment inspections to ensure the crane is in safe working condition.
- Maintains a clean and organized work area, reporting any equipment malfunctions, safety concerns, or discrepancies in inventory to management.
- Completes work order paperwork/documentation.
- Responsible for adhering to/ensuring compliance with applicable safety and quality standards.
Required Skills:
- 2-5 years of experience operating overhead cranes required.
- 2-5 years of forklift operating experience.
- High School diploma/GED preferred.
- Warehousing and material handling experience preferred.
- Experience setting up, operating, and troubleshooting metal working machines preferred.
- Ability to show adequate manual dexterity, finger dexterity, arm-hand steadiness, and multi-limb coordination required.
- Ability to read and comprehend written instructions as applied to work situations required.
- Basic measurement skills, including taking, converting, and/or using measurements of length, width, height, and weight to perform basic math computations correctly required.
- Basic arithmetic skills to calculate and convert decimals and fractions required.
- Basic computer proficiency and working knowledge of software applications required.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively required.
- Ability to make sound decisions based on a combination of factors including knowledge, experience, and judgment required.
- Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with supervisors and co-workers required.
- Strong communications skills required.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative required.
